LA Noire is not an open world/sandbox game.

It looks amazing, that's it. Shooting is as effective as shooting a pea gun. Repetitive is an understatement. Shoot out, kill everyone, take two steps, second wave comes, two more steps, third wave comes......then jump around and climb on stuff. I almost took the disk out and threw it out the window.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: What's The Most Overrated Non Sports Xbox 360/Ps3 Games U Played?
LA Noire is tops of the list for me so far. Maybe because it's the most recent highly hyped game I have played, but it was extremely overrated. I said before I got it it was going to be repetitive, and no replay value at all to speak of, and I was right. Which I subsequently got bashed for in the LA Noire thread, but I was right. It fell short in many areas. I don't know why, but that game just pissed me off. I liked it first number of cases, then it fell apart big time.
Aside from that, any COD game, Homefront, Crysis 2, and ME for me. Love RPG's but ME was not my type of game. Not too into sci-fi. Which is why Halo is used to keep my table from being lopsided, and not ever put into the console.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Wow not getting it. In a marketplace where there is a new FPS coming out every week that is shoot, spawn, shoot online with almost no story mode I would think everyone would like a little story every now and then. To each their own I guess.Gamertag and PSN Mrclutch1013

I don't like or play first person shooters and I wasn't commenting on the story but the gameplay is not fun at all. They said that they changed that with Uncharted 2 but the guns still felt extremely weak and it took way too many shots to kill people. If they are going to have gun combat in the game, then they need to have that part be fun to play.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: What's The Most Overrated Non Sports Xbox 360/Ps3 Games U Played?
Assassin's Creed II. I'm laboring to get through it...and the weird thing is that I loved AC 1. That story held my attention throughout (although the ending cemented my enjoyment), the gameplay, while repetitive, was innovative and you were never confused as to what to do next. AC II, on the other hand, has 5 million characters, a story that is difficult to follow, and much of the same game mechanics from the first one (but that last one isn't necessarily a bad thing, IMO).
Ironically, I think Red Dead Redemption was a great game, but I can see how people give up on it. Frankly, I did too at one point and didn't play it for a few months before finally resuming. Once I picked it back up, for some reason I felt the story picked up, I enjoyed it more, and the game had more interesting characters. I think you have to get at least halfway through before giving up.
I also love the Mass Effect series, but I understand that it may not be for everyone. The thing that holds the series together is the story and the universe you play in, much like RDR. The game mechanics themselves aren't memorable, but as someone posted earlier in the thread, it really is a "choose your own adventure" in videogame form. And the characters are awesome.
However the most overrated would have to GTA IV. I beat the game, but I really didn't enjoy it that much, especially when I compare it to past iterations. The controls were clunky, the characters were boring (to me), the missions were absolutely awful and repetitive, and the driving felt hamstrung by the physics and handling engine. When your game centers around committing crimes, and the crimes are boring, you have a problem.
I will give them credit on the "living city" concept, though. You really felt like the city was an actual place and you were just one of millions of its residents.Comment
