LOL, this thread is full of funny death anecdotes

The number of deaths I'm hearing kinda reminds me of the hardest FPS I ever played; Turok on the N64. I had to use a cheat code just to play LOL.

      Re: Far Cry 3

I've died like four times in the few hours I've played, mostly from animals.

I was chasing a deer and out of no where an alligator came out from the river and mauled the deer, I got made and threw a grenade in the water and killed the alligator.

I'm about to do the second mission after free roam is unlocked. Considering I've spent about 4/5 hours after just one mission, this game is fully worth the $60.

Like others have said though, some kind of indicator of where bodies are would be great, all the foilage looks beautiful but it does a hell of a job hiding the corpses.

Stealth is done beautifully, which is huge.

        Yeah.....noted for future reference.
Trying to take down a tiger with the knife(no bullets left) is not going to cut it()
Worst part was...I was going to a cage that had a tiger in it to kill that one....when the partner snuck up and me.

        Oh...gunboats....GUNboats!

I picked this up earlier today. I was exploring and heard what sounded like a snake behind me. I turn around and there's 5 Komodo dragons coming at me. I shot 3 and was able to take the other 2 out with my machete.

rented this game today and i've been playing it a ton. i've completed 10 missions and spent the rest of my time just roaming around and hunting stuff. i made the weapon holsters and the 2nd biggest wallet. this game is fun as hell and the map is HUGE.

I may have missed it in this thread but can anyone explain the save system in this game?

The autosave seems to take me back to where I was just before the next mission.

The manual saves have to be reloaded but the auto saves do not overwrite the manual saves.

So I seem to be always going back to my manual saves but even though it says it auto saves I'm 20 minutes before I completed my last challenge.

              I just don't get it.

                Re: Far Cry 3

Wow...just wow. This game is A-mazing.

3 weeks ago this game was not even on my radar. Traditionally I've despised FPS...just couldn't get into 'em and with so many great 3rd person shooter and adventure games out there...never needed to. Halo, Unreal T3, Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 eventually changed my mind about FPS, but a game like Far Cry just didn't appeal to me.

Anyway, recently I'd been itching to play a hunting game and when I saw the sharpshooter on sale for $10 on Black Friday, I started looking for move-compatible hunting games but Cabela's was the only option. Then a FC3 trailer about hunting got me curious and the more videos I watched, the more intrigued I became...so I took a "chance" and pre-ordered at Best Buy since they were offering $20 and a pre-order bonus.

Fast-forward to tonight and I couldn't have ever imagined how much I love this game. The SP is just awesome. Hunting animals is joyous, crafting and learning skills is easy, driving vehicles feels great (from gliders to boats), the shooting/aiming/running controls are tight, the story is engaging, and fightng pirates to liberate an island is enthralling.

I'm not an on-line guy, rather I really like when a game allows me to play offline vs. bots. So I jumped into the "multiplayer>map editor" options. I was able to create a map, put enemies and animals and vehicles and weapons in it and go at it, offline (or technically online but alone?). I was also able to download the best online maps created by others, then populate it with AI and go at it offline .

I haven't gone online for straight-up MP (and probably won't, not my thing) or Co-op yet...although I wish you could enjoy the co-op missions offline by just adding 3 AI teammates, but whatever. I will jump into the online co-op eventually.

                Game is my GOTY easily.

And don't let them come out with Zombie and Dinosaur DLC as some are begging for...

Did I say I love how they did LOS and stealth yet?

It's amazing when a game pulls it off great.

One thing you can do...as soon as you hear the hissing and it's exremely thick foilage ev'where, quickly inject yourself with the hunter instinct syringe and you'll see what is coming and from where.

Loving this game. It is truly epic. I am guessing that the camps you can take over for fast travel are distinguished by the smoke coming from them. I have cleaned up places with 8+ enemies but they were not taken over by the rebels. Still fun doing it. :-)

Yep. Black smoke I believe. I have yet to clear a camp where the rebels didn't come in though. Evey time I get near a camp I make it priority 1 to take it.
This game is prime example of a game where multiple play through = Still fun.

Far Cry 3 is SICK i tell you SICK (as you all know...)... i have been having a blast, just got the game informer today and they have the replay value for this game as moderate (crazy ppl). this game imo has a high replay value just beacause of the freedom u have to do whatever however, loving the game and stories im seeing as well some posts had me really laughing.

SIDE NOTE: the gun u get when u activate all towers is what i like to say BEAST MODE [on]... gotta shell out some cash to buy it but its well worth the price!

PRRREEACH! AMEN! This game was a total surprise for me too! To be honest I feel drained after playing this because Im so tense during gameplay (watching out for animals and trying to be stealthy, never know whats around the corner)

Im in agreement about the dinosaurs and zombies thing. I dont get the whole zombie craze but to each their own. No biggie if they do make it a DLC but I'll have to pass on it.

                                Autosaves at checkpoints....
You manually save anywhere but a mission.
You must LOAD a save...not CONTINUE to get your manual save. Continuing story gives you the autosave.

Now....Gunboats....I just took to camps using nothing but the gunboat.
Got close to shore and just starting shooting. They came running...but with my infinity bullet gunboat...they had no chance!
