EA voted Worst Company In America For 2012

After more than 250,000 votes, Consumerist readers ultimately decided that the type of greed exhibited by EA, which is supposed to be making the world a more fun place, is worse than Bank of America's avarice, which some would argue is the entire point of operating a bank.

Game-players have voted to send a message to Electronic Arts and the gaming business as a whole: Stop treating your loyal customers like crap.

How sad. EA is one of the least offensive companies. Other than that whole buying the NFL thing.

Consumerist readers got it right. Not a bit surprised by this.

I still say Activision is worse than EA personally.

I know people love to hate EA on this website and online in general, but I personally have no major issues with them. I buy and get more enjoyment out of EA games than any other game company.

Game players could send a real message and not buy EA products. What's the point of giving EA **** when all they care about is the money you're giving them too.

I don't have an issue really with EA. I love Battlefield 3, they make a solid Golf, Hockey, and Soccer game that appear to be loved by loads of people. I haven't bought one of their football games (pro or college) in a few years as I have just grown away from most sports games, but I think I would miss EA if they just went away, honestly.

You know, people complain about the DLC and the practice of nickel and diming consumers, but obviously people are paying it, because EA continues to do it.

People are obviously still pissed about EAs practices in the early 2000's. Activision, right now, is where EA was a decade ago. EA's publishing model is what every major video game company should strive for. The problem is that EA does not throw their logo all over these games so you barely know EA published them.

I don't know what is the deal with video game fanboyism but I am 99% sure that this is the reason EA was #1 here.

Maybe you can petition UNICEF to make video games.

I dont have a problem with anything EA really besides EA Sports. I hate online passes and really hate the On Disk DLC but thats everyone now a days. Sad to say it but its just how it is and how it will be until consumers stop buying the product.

No fanboyism here... Calling a spade a spade...

This is and will end as, the "lost Gen of Football". That's my main issue with EA. Fluff over substance, gimmicks over quality. Absolutely no advancement of the genre, None.

That and the NASCAR buyout then proceed to kill that sport on consoles also..
                        At least that ones over.

Right now, EA is the one company that does a good job of implementing meaningful things but at the same time just puts some unnecessary stuff out there to try and make a buck. For as big as they are, they are ok with me.

I just wish they'd give Madden a makeover that's meaningful.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I certainly don't like EA, but they are far better than the likes of BoA, Comcast, and others on this list.

Sure online passes, on disk DLC, and Origin exclusivity suck, but every bigtime publisher has online passes and on disk DLC nowadays. Is what they do any worse than Activision running their series into the ground, or Capcom releasing "Super/Ultra" versions of their game less than a year later?

Hell Zynga does many things and nickels and dimes its customers way more than EA does.

HAHAHA. Wow, a video game company won. That automatically takes out any validity of the poll for me.

And it's not like people HAVE TO buy their games. Its exactly like the people that say "oh I hate facebook", then they log into facebook 2 minutes later.
