      Re: Crysis 3

Excuse me while pick my jaw back up from the floor. Seriously, the graphics look incredible, they certainly look better than Crysis 1 and 2 . Console versions will obviously be toned down to get them to run, but judging by that video the console versions should still look incredible. I defiantly like the look of the game-play, it looks like a pretty good mix between the styles of the first two games. Oh and that bow is sweet, explosive arrows are always entertaining.

I have never been a PC gamer, but seeing these videos makes part of me wish I had a high end PC . As I said before I am sure the game will look great on consoles as well, despite being toned down, but it looks like it will be jaw dropping on high end PCs.

Hopefully better than Crysis 2. Something about it made it boring to me.

                        Amazing!

It would sound weird, but what impressed me most was that leaves finally look like leaves, not like bunch of ugly green pixels (aka every game I've played/watched videos of, until this one). If each and every leaf looks like that when you look at it closely, and the game still runs well, this itself is a technological achievement.

                            Re: Crysis 3

Crysis 3: Less Linear, Better Looking

The environments of Crysis 3 won’t be as open as the original, but will be a mix between both of the franchise’s existing games, broadening the battle arenas and ensuring the path from a combat zone’s entrance to exit is a little more loopy, and ultimately a little more interesting. “In Crysis 2 we were very restricted by the urban grid we were using,” said producer Michael Read. “It was very corridor-like. But if we leave things a little too open, there are spaces that become devoid of really anything. We basically took Crysis 1 and 2 and scaled them differently by taking 2 and opening that up, and taking 1 and shrinking it down. So, finding a middle ground between what we did in 1 and 2.”

In the playable demo area shown at GDC Europe, which included a large space filled with deep water in some spots, ruined buildings overgrown with vines and plenty of places to hide, I definitely got that feeling. As soon as I entered the space, looked at my surroundings, saw the enemy positions, and started to think about where I should go first, who I should shoot first, if I should stealth to a better spot, jump up to a higher ledge, it gave me that sense of hidden possibility that made playing Crysis so much fun; that sense that no matter what I did, there were a number of other viable approaches waiting to be discovered, and that there was room to get creative with the nanosuit’s powers.
PC gamers reading this who were irritated with Crysis 2’s launch with less than ideal graphics settings should also be happy to know Crysis 3 will launch with full DX 11 support. “With Crysis 2 our real big push was to optimize the high end features that we were known for and getting them running on the console,” said Carl Jones, director of business development on CryEngine. “People kind of incorrectly thought we were dumbing things down. We really weren’t. We wanted to get the same kind of feel from the high end PC into a console game. Now that that work’s been done, we’re going to add a load more on top. The console versions look significantly better. What we’re doing with Crysis 3 which is different from Crysis 2, is we’re building a high-end PC version to release at the same time. This time around, instead of waiting for our Ultra upgrade, out of the box, the very high end PC version just looks incredible. You’re looking at next-gen gaming, right there, in February of next year.”
Along with graphical improvements, Crytek is hoping to build more advanced artificial intelligence into its enemies to make encounters more sophisticated. According to Read, “Typically in Crysis, especially in Crysis 2 it was noticeable, either the AI was green or they were red. What we’re working on right now are a bunch of systems that are in-between.” Read says enemies will taunt and tease, panic and hide, and do far more than wander or attack.
                            ...
Depending on whether you’re fighting Cell troopers or the alien Ceph, you can expect differences as well. According to Read the Ceph will be more overtly aggressive, but still have shades of alertness, and also have a better ability to find their way through terrain, which will be critical in Crysis 3’s bigger environments compared to Crysis 2.

So far it sounds like Crysis 3 is moving along the right path, edging back towards the original’s design with more ways to customize combat. Given Crytek’s experience with creating these futuristic superhero shooters, I came away from the demo hopeful that Crysis 3 will satisfy in a way Crysis 2 couldn’t, as it will hopefully give me more of an opportunity to think before I fire.
Crysis 3’s Multiplayer Makes You Feel Hunted

But Hunter is these things: tense, terrifying, and very, very satisfying. In an 8- to 16-player game, two players begin as Hunters in powerful nanosuits – silent, invisible, deadly, wielding the game’s signature compound bows – and the rest are CELL operatives, vulnerable and conspicuous, who crash-land inside the nanodome covering the overgrown New York City.

Every time a Hunter takes down one of the soldiers, they too become a Hunter, until there are nine compound-bow-wielding assassins versus three terrified soldiers hiding out in some corner of the map, staring in panic at the rain water pooling on the forest floor in fearful expectation of seeing their pursuers’ footprints. To win as a Hunter, all the CELL operatives must be eliminated. For the CELL team to win, just one person has to survive for two minutes.

It might sound like stalking around as the Hunter would be loads more fun, but trust me, the tension and fear that you experience as a soldier makes it one of the most intense FPS multiplayer modes I’ve played in a long time. Watching the clock count down to zero as your proximity alarm is going crazy and hunters are closing in on you is a terrifying experience. Never has crouching behind something been so much fun.
naturally some old favourite modes return as well, including straightforward deathmatches/team deathmatches and Crysis’ own take on Capture the Flag, called Crash Site. In Crash Site, alien pods land at random points on the map, and your team has to claim them for as long as possible before they explode and the next one arrives somewhere else. It’s a very fast-paced, violent mode that shows the nanosuit off at its full capabilities.

There are now separate energy bars for sprinting, camouflage, armour boosting and other nanosuit superpowers, meaning you can sprint like hell across a map and leap across impossible gaps to reach a firefight without worrying about the fact that you’ll have no energy left to power your armour when you get there.
Crash Site’s newest selling point is the ability to actually drive the Pingers – alien mechs, basically. He chaos that erupts when one of these appears on the map is spectacular. Alien weapons can be found around the place, too, on strategically-hidden dead Ceph aliens in corners of the map; find one, and you can be very disruptive indeed when you rock up to the next crash site.

Crysis 3 will have 12 maps and 8 different game modes altogether when it launches in February next year. It’ll support 16 players on PC and 12 on consoles, and Crytek is dedicating its resources to making sure its servers will be totally stable by that time.

After the disaster that was Crysis 2's MP, I'll be very cautious with this part of the game.

                                HOLY S*** is right....

Obviously, the graphics look AMAZEBALLS!!! The PC version is going to be the best, then the consoles...

I never played Crysis, but I picked up Crysis 2 and played it all the way through...GREAT game IMO...it sucked me in. (Multiplayer....ehhh, not at all...I didn't like it) - but the campaign was great. It was something different, but a GOOD different...I liked the atmosphere.

Crysis 3 will be a Day-1 purchase for me...(the multiplayer portion of the game will be a toss-up, but I don't care, because the campaign-mode intrigues me enough.)

On a side note, if they ever re-released Crysis (1) on PS3 I would pick that up as well.

There are now too many games I want to pick up and I don't have the time to play what I have...damn you videogames.
