Re: Crysis 3
Pretty excited for this, looks like they made an effort to provide some more open environments like the first game and blend the best aspects of Crysis 1 and 2 together. Also love using bows in games.
Something I am wondering though is have they shown any console footage?Seems like the videos so far have been the PC version, just wondering about how many sacrifices they had to make to get the game to run properly on consoles. My Teams

Re: Crysis 3
Well, you would have to expect some sacrifices to be made considering how outdated the hardware is. Lower resolution than the PC version is a given. The CEO of Crytek did say that the game would be the best looking game on consoles, and I am inclined to believe him, but it still won't look nearly as good as the PC version. I am ok with that though, since the gameplay looks really good/fun in the videos they have shown. I would like to see at least a little console footage though. My Teams

I'll be waiting for the PS4/Xbox 720 version (I hope) that should be more in line with the PC version.Comment

Re: Crysis 3
That seems a little bit extreme. The gameplay and missions will still be exactly the same as the PC Version, the core gameplay is not being altered in anyway. By console standards the game will still most likely look better than pretty much anything out at the moment. The reason I enjoy the Crysis series, is because of the gameplay and possibilities created by the nanosuit. Graphics are a nice bonus, but graphics don't make a good game. If the game delivers in the gameplay department and is a little more open like Crysis 1 I see no reason to miss out on the experience just because the console verson doesn't look as good as the pc version.Last edited by mgoblue678; 01-23-2013, 11:03 PM.My Teams

Re: Crysis 3
As long as it doesn't say "cloak engaged" every single fricken' time I go invisible, I'll be interested. Silly or not, that literally ruined the last game for me.
At the very least give me an option to turn that off in the audio menu.Comment

Re: Crysis 3
Open multiplayer beta came out today for all three platforms for anybody interested. Played a couple games really quick before having to leave. I am really more interested in the SP, but I wanted to see the game running on consoles since we haven't seen any console footage yet. First impressions are the graphics are good, but not quite amazing even by console standards. To be fair though this is a beta made from an old build and the graphics are mostly likely toned down in multiplayer in comparison to the single player, to improve performance. Game does run very smooth.
I really enjoyed the couple games of crash site mode I played, love the verticality present in the two maps. Air Stomp is actually useful now. The couple of games of hunter mode on the other hand I didn't enjoy as much. I didn't dislike it, but the mode seems a little too unbalanced in the hunters favor, marines got slaughtered in about two minutes. I did only play a couple of games, so I will give it more a chance when I get home. I don't like the fact that Hunters have unlimited stealth that stays on all the time or that Hunters can respawn indefinately. Also a nitpick overall would be the new armor ability that automatically kicks in when players are shot, seems like it's aimed at people who don't know how to use armor mode properly.
As I said I normally don't like competitive multiplayer, but I may give the multiplayer a shot in this game provided the netcode is sigficantly better than Crysis 2. Crysis 2 MP was a lagfest about 50% of the time, apparently the game doesn't have dedicated servers so who knows whether the lag will less prevelant.Last edited by mgoblue678; 01-29-2013, 09:51 AM.My Teams

Re: Crysis 3
Just got home a little bit ago, and played a couple more games. Crash mode is still alot of fun, but Hunter mode flat out needs sigficant tweaking to be a viable mode. Hunter mode would be alot better if:
1.Hunters didn't have unlimited stealth that is automatically on
2.Hunters had a limited amount of lives
3. Hunters should have no radar or very limited radar. Defeats the purpose of "hunting" when the game tells you where the Cell are.
4.Rounds need to be longer
Unfortunately I doubt these changes are made since they are pretty significant. I was hoping this would be a more tactical/cerebral type of gametype when it was announced, but at the moment it basically just plays like infected mode in any other game.
To be honest I wish they would have released a single player demo instead, I don't think a two map MP beta showcases the gameplay and graphics as well as a single player demo would. I think people are going to get the wrong impression playing the beta, at least in the graphics department. Graphics definately should be better in the single-player retail version, the MP in Crysis 2 also looked sigficantty worse than the SP.Last edited by mgoblue678; 01-29-2013, 08:07 PM.My Teams
