Just started playing. Playing solo on Normal setting. WAY more drops than in previous games. I'm leaving tons of stuff behind, which I don't recall doing in Dead Space 1 and only occasionally in Dead Space 2, which leads me to believe the games are getting easier with each release.

Re: Dead Space 3
Looks like I'm about 20% of the way through now. I was thinking, that since I'm playing solo, and not co-op, that perhaps there are more drops as they planned the game for 2x players? Helps that I know to stomp on all the dead bodies to produce extra drops too I suppose (at times the drops don't appear unless the bodies are stomped).Comment

Re: Dead Space 3
That would be bad and unfortunate. Not a fan of EA, but this has been one of the better games to come out of that company in years. The first Dead Space was truly inspiring, and DS3 has been enjoyable for me thus far, even though they have sullied it with all of the micro-transaction crap. If this story proves to be true, and if nothing else, perhaps one positive can come of it if the sales issue can somehow be registered as a micro-transaction failure?Comment

Re: Dead Space 3
Only halfway through, so that may change, but can't see any real major gameplay revelations now, though there is plenty of time for a few big wow moments. Back to killing Necromorphs!Last edited by Valdarez; 04-02-2013, 11:55 PM.Comment

Not really a spoiler, just a name of a suit that I found funny.

Re: Dead Space 3
Enjoy it. IMHO it's still the best one in the series. Half way through DS3 now and I'm pretty disappointed in the lack of gameplay evoluation. The features added for resource gathering and gun creation just aren't interesting or 'fun' and the gameplay is far too expected now (no claustrophobia feeling sadly). Nothing thus far has really caught me off guard or inspired a 'wow' moment like the DeadSpace 1, and there are far too many gaming options/capabilities they left on the table. Not to say it's a bad game, it just feels like more of the same, and less inspired than the previous titles in the series.

I think as far as refinement, DS3 is the very best in the series. As far as total package? No doubt The original is king. Scared the living crap out of me and was a ground breaking title for this generation of consoles. DS2 was still a freak fest too.
It is like Halloween. After the first one the fright factor got less and less. And that was the real beauty of Dead Space one.
But still DS3 is a high quality titles and worthy of a play through and full retail price. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Dead Space 3
Wish there had been some type of retention net gun/capability. You know any time you come up to a vent that nine times out of ten something is going to pop out of it at some time. A net could be used to cover them to keep something from popping out and from keeping other necros from rising up / regenerating. Then they could have introduced harvesting from live (live dead?) necromorphs while netted.
On a complete side note, I can't help thinking of Falling Skies while playing Deep Space 3 this time around. The health bar (blue lights and all) looks so much like the harness the Aliens are using on the kids in the Falling Skies TV series.Comment

Re: Dead Space 3
Finished up DS3 tonight and have to say that I'm pretty disappointed with the ending. We're not given a choice as to the outcome and then the final fight was way too easy. Feels like they intentionally didn't finish the game so they could include additional DLC for it, which irks the hell out of me as a gamer.
Overall found the game FAR too easy compared to past titles. I literally had 60+ health nodes saved up at the end, with another 10 statis and 20 ammo. Just way too many drops for the game, and from a balance perspective, far out of line from past releases.Comment

Re: Dead Space 3
Seems this is true. From reading other boards, classic mode basically puts the game on Hard (which is what past titles were on) and reduces the number of drops, though how much I can't attest to at this time.Comment

I am thoroughly enjoying DS3. Campaign length seems generous.

I have just this second finished the game. Wow, what an intense, action packed and atmospheric journey.
Graphics and game world were really something. Lots of variety but it never lost the dark and claustrophobic sense that everything was happening in deep, eerie space.
Towards the end I thought the sets resembled the movie Aliens vs Predator with all the alien glyphs and the dark hewn stone maze like environs.
The music score was spectacular. The gameplay was first rate third person shooter fare. Weapon construction was just awesome and addictive. By games end I had assembled some pretty dangerous firepower and was wasting Necros with speedy satisfaction. Little extra things like equipping bullets with statis or acid or fire helped alot.
Game + next but not for a while. Time to give Bioshock Infinite a go and also to finish Gears of War.
Again, an outstanding game. The best game I have played this year alongside Ni No Kuni though they are from completely different generes.
