    Re: Destiny

Except Bungie screamed from the mountaintops from day 1 that this wasn't an MMO. You can't scream something isn't an MMO, and then say "well, you should have known because MMO" when it's convenient. And besides that the comparison doesn't work since a weapon in an MMO doesn't dictate how you play quite like a weapon in Destiny.

If they never wanted us to be able to use Fatebringer outside of "level 30" they shouldn't have let us ascend it to begin with. Even better, you don't want me to use my old weapons how about we design some that aren't ****ing ****.

They said the game isn't an MMO, it's not an RPG, and they have already established weapon ascension in the game, so get out of here with that "should have expected" nonsense.

Its gonna be interesting to see how long it takes to level to 40. These are some massive changes they are spitting out. Still wondering about that vault space Bungie.

        Re: Destiny

Okay, even if it's not an mmo, it's absolutely an rpg. They're changing the leveling system to be even more rpg like anyway.

And the new weapons are fine. The PoE weapons definetly should've had another row of perks, but some are still good. Shadow of Veils and Her Benevolence are very good snipers; SoV may be the best in the game next to Black Hammer because of it's huge target acquisition. Six Dreg Pride is a very solid hand cannon. Wolves Leash is almost certainly the best Void primary in the game if you get it with a good role. Auto Rifles suck at the moment, but the PoE one may be the best of the raid ones. Some of them suck, sure, but that goes for all of them.

You'll still be able to use your fatebringer for everything but the raid and maybe the nightfall.

          Re: Destiny

And no, they shouldn't have done ascension on weapons, imo. Especially when the PoE/ToO primaries come in any burn. They've obviously realized that and aren't going to repeat the mistake.

            Re: Destiny

Blizzard did this every couple years with WoW. Rip out systems, completely replace and rework leveling experiences, abilities, spells, etc. Other longstanding MMOs go through it a couple times in some form.

This is the kind of stuff I expected with Destiny 2 though, not a DLC.

MMO or not, they sure are acting like one. Does make me want to tinker again though TBH, so mission accomplished I suppose.

Absolutely. You'll still be able to collect better gear, that'll be useful at least to lvl 36, and you'll want both of your subclasses maxed, since they'll be adding a third.

Stolen from Reddit, but it's a good reminder

Just a quick reminder you have 40 days to prep for TTK. Here's some things you can do:
1 Save 20 of your public event reward packages. You can only get 1 per day so you have some wiggle room if you miss a day. I believe these are 2500xp each.
2 Save 10 of your 5000xp vanguard/crucible bounties. You can probably wait to do this until a week before TTK drops.
3 Edge your faction rep to within 10. Why 10? Because why waste a 5000xp bounty just to rank up a faction? Just go do a quick patrol mission to do that.
4 Max you glimmer to 25,000. Exclusion zone is your friend
5 Max your vanguard and crucible marks to 200. The max you can gain in a week is 100 so start this at least 2 weeks out!
Having all these packages and bounties really does help, should be even more desirable with the new leveling system and new subclasses. So day one you can have a few levels and a few fully leveled new weapons.

                    Re: Destiny

I am going to reserve judgement on creating fun and useful weapons until I see some of the offerings. People use VOG weapons because they are just better. Create something that will make me put down VOC, Black Hammer, etc.

I am glad that they are creating direct paths to get the things u want. I feel slightly bummed that I never got to use Fatebringer, Gally etc. I'm slightly let down that the weapons will stay behind but I understand the reasoning. This will benefit the games longevity.

Good point. I'm enjoying the game, but I didn't want to feel like I was wasting time before TTK drops. I'll get back to the grind.

Glad to hear all the new exotics will have specific quests to unlock them. This means there is no RNGsus worshiping necessary for the new exotics. Finally. If you want a specific gun, then there is a specific way to get it. No more watching your homie shard his tenth hawkmoon while you have zero. Now you can target it specifically.

Maybe he will sell certain pieces of items instead. Some of the exotics etc. will need to be built. Maybe he will sell blue prints etc. I don't want them to phase out Xur

                              Re: Destiny

The thing about Destiny v other RPGs is 1 it's not really an RPG.

                              2 it's a MMOFPS with RPG Elements.

The light system and needing gear in order to reach a certain level is why ppl actually grinded the game. That's what made Vanilla Destiny original IMO. If you needed a certain piece of armor or weapon you played until you got it. It was fun to some and annoying to some guys trying to get Fatebringer etc. but they still played because they wanted the cool guns and to reach the max level.

(Granted most ppl don't know you can spam use a gun and increase your RNG chance to drop it. It's still randomly generated, but using a certain weapon type more puts more numbers in that weapon types algorithm. I got Fatebringer in 3 hard runs. I get a Vex pretty much every time I ran VOG. And I got Gjallarhorn/Truth by spamming rockets)

With that being said, there's essentially no reason to grind anymore because all you have to do is bounties to level up. Ppl will play 'for fun' and to just get cool stuff, but the concept of the original Destiny was beat the boss/raid and get the drop to reach max level. That was the fun in raiding. Having to do it by choice or because you wanted to be max level. Now it's just raid because it's in the game lol.

Granted I don't know what exactly is in the raid and all that. From the news it just seems like they took the originality of the grind concept out the game. No matter how bad ppl disliked it or claimed, they still played. Now everyone will be 40 in 1 week since it's XP based.

I haven't played Destiny in a month and a half because I knew the DLC was gonna make everything I was grinding for irrelevant lol. No more etheric light? Our weapons won't reach the new max level? What are shards good for? What is energy good for? Why does Eris even sale us a Runed Core and Embalming Orb? I figured all that stuff would happen so I put it down. On top of it getting boring with no raid to actually get cool Fallen armor/etc.

There's just not enough to do in the game for them to change leveling to an XP system. Especially capping the Level at 40 now. What happens to guys with 34 light? Unless they add quests in patrol where you can actually find ppl and get missions from them outside of the tower it's gonna get stale really fast. But, the main thing I realize is this is what Destiny was supposed to be. This isn't for us Vanilla Players. This is for anybody new that picks it up. This is essentially Destiny 1.

We were only playing the Extended Active Destiny Beta.

I guess he could sell the bounties instead of the weapons themselves, but that's kind of lame, and if it's that you need him for the bounties like several of the current ones, that changes his nature from something exciting to an obnoxious speed bump.
