    Re: Dark Souls II

Ended up getting a PS3, got the preorder in tow. Going to be a great midnight with Titanfall and DS 2. Sucks that my vacation ends a day later, but i'll get two days with this.

I won't watch streams or look at guides, this is too good of a game for that. Need to experience it at least once without guides.

I cannot wait to start being an invading nuisance. It'll be fun especially with the protector covenant. I'll find myself in 2v1's often.

It's so hard to resist watching the streams.

It is. I made the mistake of doing it with Dark Souls (mainly because I was on the fence and wanted to see how the game was). It made the first part far too easy for me since I knew what to expect and once I got the rotation down for the first portion, I knew how to breeze through it.

Just remember, in a few days, it'll be worth it!

There's a guy streaming it now, I've kinda watched intermittently. I will say they've really stepped up the visuals, this is the best-looking souls game yet.

Namco Bandai confirmed April 25th is the PC release. Do I wait 7 weeks for higher res and 60 FPS? There is the risk that the PC port is messed up out of the gate though. Ugh, decisions...

Personally, I would get one of the console versions. PC souls needed a homemade patch at launch for higher rez, plus the community was pretty much nonexistent compared to the ps3/360 ones.

That's what I'm leaning towards, assuming there's no technical issues on the 360 version.

I doubt that the PC version port is that bad again, especially since From said that PC was the lead platform. The only thing that concerns me is the extra 7 weeks must have meant there were some bugs/optimization issues that they are trying to iron out.

Didn't the developers admit that though and said this one would not have the same issues, as they put a lot more focus into it??

It might not have the technical issues, but I still can't see it having a better community than you'll find on the consoles.

Yeah, this is one of those few games that I'd recomend on the past gen console than a PC, Dark Souls was such a better experience for me on the 360 than it was on the PC, not to say it was bad, but the game just seemed so much better on the 360. I can't really speak for communities, when I had it on the 360, was back when there was a lot of server side issues that had since been fixed, but the gameplay itself was smoother, and it's not a PC issue (4 GB ram, GTX 670 on my end). It just wasn't optimized for the PC. I'd wait for PC impressions if you rather wait and see if they did a better job.

Fair enough. IMO the community is what keeps these games "alive" so to say. When I played PC souls from a Steam sale co-op and invasions took forever. Demon's Souls IMO is more active than PC Souls.

Agree. I'm pretty sure this game went back to having dedicated servers like Demon's Souls, whereas Dark Souls was p2p. Dark Souls PC was so poorly done that I'm just wary of any Souls game on PC now. Plus, there were a lot of hackers on that side of things.
