I haven't really played dark souls on ps3, but to be fair, Xbox was just as easily "hacked" as pc. You just had to edit your game saves just like it's done on pc.

I do agree with you on the community front. I can't even stand playing demons or dark souls offline. It just feels dead. I'm sure that's exactly how it feels without the community backing up the game.

Pre-ordered today and will probably do a midnight release for this and Titanfall.

I've kept myself from any spoilers, excluding the first few minutes of the game, so I'm guessing that if it's around the same size as the first, it's going to take me 60+ hours to beat the game.

I'm pretty sure he means the draining stats hack. It's where these douchebags would invade you and when they killed you they drained all your stats to 0 which basically ****s your character.

Yeah the last thing I care about is any online.
I play Souls offline as I do every Other game except sports and the occasional fps.
Still was enjoyable for me.

I'm pretty sure he means the draining stats hack. It's where these douchebags would invade you and when they killed you they drained all your stats to 0 which basically ****s your character.

Wow, first time I've heard of that one. With a game like Dark Souls, that is a really ****ty thing to do. I've heard a bit about modders, but haven't run into any so far.

You guys sold me on this game with your excitement. Two bad things though:

1. I didn't know until yesterday this wasn't coming to next gen.

2. I promised my sister and Nieces id send them my ps3 when MLB the show came out. So I doubt I'll do it now so thinking of just buying them a ps4 for a family year bday/Xmas present.

Until recently PS3 saves couldn't be edited so we didn't get the hackers. I haven't played DS since though so the situation may be different now.

All we had to deal with were glitchers using exploits. I.e. infinite item glitch and dragon head exploit.

Lots of people playing the game today. No spoilers, really, but comments on the games difficulty, length, tidbits about the game, and visuals ahead:

1. The reviews on difficulty seems to be a mixed bag. People are still dying a lot (one steamer had close to 200 deaths 20 hours in), and the enemies are somewhat tougher/smarter. Some people are saying the game is easier, but most admit that to be because they are used to the game style at this point. There are more ways to heal yourself, but the estus flask has been nerfed, and the other form of healing takes a long time to get you up to a manageable about of health.

I'm guessing when the servers begin pumping out invaders, things are only going to get worse.

2. The game seems to have more content. There are more boss fights, more areas, and more equipment. The actual length of the game seems to be similar, but again, it should be considered that people are more adjusted to the gameplay this time around.

3. Most people say the game is a noticeable upgrade, visually. Unfortunately, it appears as if From Software downgraded the lighting system they were so excited about pretty significantly, and the game seems a little "grayish".

4. There are a crap ton of new animations in the game, and most of them look awesome.

From what I've heard one of the covenant's (Rat's covenant) has items that reverses this process. But IMO having to join a particular covenant just to reverse this is kinda weak. If anything they could have made enemies have diminishing returns on the amount of souls you get.

I'm mostly worried about item farming. I farmed the Baldr knights for about an hour once just trying to get the Baldr side sword. If they simply disappeared and I was unable to get the item I would have been pretty miffed. Plus, like I mentioned before the idea of going through an entirely empty area in a souls game just sounds odd.
