Re: The Witcher 3
That's amazing to me. I'm around 100-110 hours in and I just completed the events in Kaer Morhen.
My problem is I don't want to progress the Main Story. I'm afraid that progressing is going to alter the world that I am playing in at the moment and change everything. So I end up dragging it out. Completing quest that are 6 levels higher than me and 20 levels below me.
I was close to starting the next leg of the main story, then a warning sign appeared that said after these events some secondary missions will no longer be available. I immediately turned around to complete then all, relieved and somewhat worried knowing that soon I have to move on.
I'm closing in on 200 hours and literally just started Skellige the other day and have a crap load of stuff to do and locations to go to. I try to do as much of the side quests, contracts, treasure hunts, etc. and even the random event quests that don't appear in the quest log before moving on in the story. I went to Skellige and completed that main story mission and that's where im at.
This game really needed a completion percentage menu ala Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, etc. That would have been great.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I just found Ciri. Now I am going to do a lot of the side missions, etc. I made sure to tie up any loose ends before finding Ciri. I have so many ?' on the maps to explore. Long way to go before I take on and complete the main story.NFL - Dallas Cowboys, MLB - NY Yankees

Re: The Witcher 3
Right?!?!?
I don't want to play the game unless I can get a good hour or 2 in because it's like I start playing and do like only a few things and hours go by. Unfortunately finding an hour or 2 is challenging as heckComment

Re: The Witcher 3
I lived in its world for over 5 weeks and 100 hours. It brought me to tears and made me laugh and had some of the most memorable missions I've ever seen.
The side quests and brilliantly designed and the stories are strong enough to trump most game's main missions.
The sunsets are awe inspiring and the woods feel dense and like literally being in the woods.
I just finished this game the day before yesterday and the ending I got gave me chills (admittedly, I read about the bad endings and would have been pretty let down if I had gotten one of those. Mine was brilliant).
It's the best open world experience since RDR and in many ways is better. Skyrim doesn't hold a candle to TW3, but obviously the games are a little bit different though to me the winner is clear.
It's also kinda ruined Batman AK for me.
Pick it up man. Nothing this generation really even comes close IMO.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Yeah, i went ahead and bought it through GOG. It's downloading now. Have to go to my sisters wedding after while, but after that, hopefully will be able to start it up. Thanks for the thoughts/impressions.
I'm wondering if I need to wait til the DLC w/ chests starts up, so I can hang on to the loot?Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: The Witcher 3
I watched the Hobbit trilogy recently (after putting it off forever due to kids/life), and then flew through Shadow of Mordor. I still have the DLC to complete, but kind of lost interest in the Bright Lord DLC.
So this is where I'll pick up. I enjoyed the combat in SoM, and venturing out, but the landscape didn't differ much in that game. This looks moreso Skyrim-esque, but a bit better.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: The Witcher 3
That's how I have been able to get to just under 200 hours in literally three weeks of playing. I have the guide and out of the 90 critical path quests (main story), I still have 40 of them to do. I completed the Destination: Skellige quest and here I am.
Secondary quest wise, I have 46 of them left to do including the random quests that don't appear in any of the quest logs. I have 6 treasure hunts, 8 contracts, 2 fists of fury quests and 4 horse racing quests left.
Game is ******* HUGE!!! And none of the above includes those bandit camps, exploring, fighting during the exploring, the places of power, monster dens/nests and whatever else im forgetting at this moment.
Blue Dragon on Xbox 360, Rainbow Moon on PS3, Pandora's Tower and The Last Story on Wii are the last RPG's that I played on any console but didn't finish any of them. Lost interest in Blue Dragon early on. Played around 50 hours in Rainbow Moon but got tired of the grinding to level up. Last Story was good but didn't play much of it. Pandora's Tower was the closest I came to finishing an RPG in the last three generations of gaming but even that, I didn't finish.
The Witcher 3 will most likely be the one and only open world RPG of any kind that I play and complete so while there's bugs, glitches, camera bug issues and other stuff that aggravate and frustrate the hell out of me, it's still by far and away the best game of this generation and as of right now, my game of the year. The only other RPG of any kind that im going to play will be Bloodborne as that's in my backlog.
After The Witcher 3, I honestly don't see myself going through another open world RPG this generation unless a game like The Witcher comes out. On a related side note - I love preset main characters and absolutely hate having to create a character which is why so many RPG's don't interest me anymore plus they're more or less all the same. Bloodborne will be the only game that I want to play that forces you to create your character but I figure that if im going to play one of the "souls" type games, I rather just play Bloodborne as im not going to go through the entire souls series. Plus, it's a PS4 exclusive and I want to see if it's as good as other PS4 fanboys say it is.
Back to The Witcher 3, I can already say that it's an easy 9/10. I'm still debating if I should rate it a 9.5/10 but won't make a final decision until after im finished with the game completely.
I do wish though that companies stop releasing games earlier than they should as the bugs and glitches is what will lower my score from 9.5/10. Patches are great but they also screw up a lot of stuff. I have had more problems in the last few days with 1.05 than I had the previous three weeks with 1.04. Also, just stupid crap. For example, in Skellige on one of the surrounding islands, I was in the water and despite trying for at least five minutes, I could not climb out of the water despite there being a platform that was no more than an inch above the water.
I know that people hate button prompts but when it comes to climbing and stuff like that (think RE4), I prefer a button prompt so the character can just climb the hell out of the water or up or down depending on where im going.
The menu interface is bad for several reasons and I wish it was all more organized and sorted. Reminds me of the PS4 XMB with the difference being vertical instead of horizontal.
Despite my negatives, im still enjoying the hell out of the game which is obvious since im almost at 200 hours and my previous high was 120 hours in AC Black Flag. Excellent and great game that in so many ways is an epic classic and the first true one this generation but yet, it's hard for me to get past the bugs and glitches.
I know that a lot of gamers have complaints like "there's no game/exclusives" and the "online play sucks" or whatever but none of them come close to numerous games being released earlier than they should have. I would hate to think how many patches this game would need if it was released last September or even this past February before it was delayed twice.
With all of that said, im STILL playing because the game itself is that damn ******* good and thus far, none of the bugs and glitches have been game breaking or unplayable for me. Hoping it stays that way.
Sorry for the LONG post.Comment
