One of my problems with the quests, mainly side quests, is that you aren't presented logical and reasonable options for a resolution in an attempt to force the quest into a grey area choice. Prime example, and last quest I did for the night, one called Little Red

So you enter a village and there is some arguing. You approach and ask what's wrong. They give you a story how there was a band of bandits terrorizing the area, eventually one of the villagers, Bertram, got the bright idea to sick the witch hunters on the group. Well the group's leader, a woman known as Little Red, finds out and intends to kill Bertram. The village offers you money to protect them.

So you wait and the band attacks the village, you are given the opportunity to talk to Little Red. She tells you there is more to the story, Bertram was actually in cahoots with her, feeding her ripe targets for a share of the loot. He got greedy and they refused, so Bertram called in the witch hunters. Obviously Bertram is a POS, but these bandits also can't be left to terrorize the area.

Logically I am thinking I can kill the bandits, then out Bertram after for the man he is, let the villagers get their own justice on the guy selling them out. So I kill the bandits and their leader (which, as a bonus, ended up being a werewolf), but then never get the option to out Bertram.

After I look up the quest online, if you let them have Bertram the villagers just think you are with the bandits now and are angry.

So the options are only to let the bandits have their way with whomever, or let Bertram get away with his crimes. Why can I not kill the bandits and out Bertram to the elders? Wouldn't that make the most sense as a solution to this quest?

I'm nearly ready to move on to Skelliege, have the map nearly cleared of question marks (there is one right in the middle of the bottom of the map that I just can't get to, there is a set of locked doors I'm guessing it is behind). Played about 85 hours.

I just read this quest in the guide and yeah, you're right. Definitely understand your opinion and point of view and I agree. You're suggestion as to how the quest should end should have been option #3.

I agree with Burns. Alot of quests just force the grey area on you.

Its like, why cant I bring justice on these bad guys? Because Gerald arbitrarily doesnt feel like fighting them. Keep in mind, this a guy who constantly gets into deadly bar fights just because he exists.

I still run like a girl from time to time, but for the most part I have a different approach to this game compared to the beginning.

Now I'm like "**** that.. I'm Geralt of Rivea"...

20 hours in and I've barely scratched the surface. I'm calling it now.. GOTY for me. I don't see anything else I play for the rest of the year touching this game. Just exploring the wilderness on horseback takes me back to the RDR days..

I finally had some time to play yesterday and today and I don't think I've accomplished anything but running around killing stuff! I get too distracted, I've got to try and stick to the main quest for a little while to get into the story.

I never realized that if you press & hold the PS4 touchpad it'll take you straight to your inventory. I knew the swiping the pad brought up the map but was unaware of pressing & holding it.

Two things I just found out:

Pressing the Right thumb stick down switches between mission objectives from the game screen.

Pressing left thumb stick down in the world map zooms and centers your current objective.

Second tip is a good one. Toggles between current position and objective. I always hated zooming as far out as possible and then moving around the map looking for my objective.

Finished the main story. And I doubt I've done even half of the sidequests. Even some of the story quests I missed by progressing too far.

Anyone who is using the 360 controller on PC having trouble using the secondary mode of axii (mind control)?

2 out of ten times it does it or normally, the other 8 times he went so it at all, just normal axii.

No issues with using the other secondary forms

Edit:

Seems to work better now.

If I use primary axii first in a fight the secondary will work fine after that

What swords do you guys like? I am committed to cat armor but not sure the cat swords are best for me

So far I haven't been too impressed with the witcher swords, been using found swords with three slots.

I found a Steel Sword sword last that was like 10x better better then the one I had been using forever. It's a relic called the Forgotten Vran. The silver sword I've been using is a magic one called The Digger which conveniently I've found two of. The second when I was really out growing the first level wise. Both of these swords add to critical chance and damage. The Digger doesn't have any slots though and that sucks.

I was using The Emmentaler (STEEL, level 12, 141 damage, +fire, +igni, with added armor piercing, sign intensity, and bleeding) and Addan Deith (+aard, +Axii, +crit damage, +crit chance, +freeze, added sign intensity, armor piercing, and freeze)

Replaced Emmentaler (loved that quest so I really liked using the sword) with Headhunter (+armor piercing, +critical chance, +critical damage, + dismember, added sign intensity, burning, armor piercing), silver I happened to come across an upgraded Addan Deith so I switched to that (same stat types, just higher values)

Enhanced griffin would give me a little higher sign intensity, but I would lose a slot and all the other perks, plus I would gain more experience and I'm already out-leveling the questlines.

I have a few relic swords that are good. Only at level 15, can't wait to see what is ahead.
