Re: The Witcher 3
If you're on Steam, Steam tracks your hours on all games you play.
I think the side quest XP issue is kind of just a product of such an open game like this. For the most part you can take any approach and knock down things in any order you want which naturally is going to unbalance things that left over to do.
I guess maybe they could provide a "recommended" quest line that points you in a direction based on flow of story and recommended levels, but that takes away part of the charm.
Between my PS4 and PC playthroughs I'm at 70 hours played and still haven't gotten through act 1 of the main story. Furthest I've gotten is exploring skellige a bit but haven't done yens quest over there"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Once you hit level 10, you need 1500XP to go up a level and once you hit level 20, you need 2000XP to go up a level with 70 being the max level. Once you start Velen and go to the Inn, you get a side quest to find the missing brother and that's level 33. I haven't seen or read anywhere that anyone has hit level 40 and it seems like mid 30's is what majority of users get to. So, in this regard while it may seem that you acquire a lot of XP, you're really not.
Also, I think that it has to do with how the side quests and whatnot are setup. Like I said above, I have that missing brother quest being level 33 yet I was only level 5 when I unlocked that side quest. You'll most likely come across easy and low leveled side quests throughout the game as well as hard and high leveled ones. It seems like they're all spread out in order to make you want to travel back and forth from Velen to Novigrad to Skellige and whatnot.
The "recommended" quest line is somewhat in the guide. It tells you the main story quests and critical path quests that should be mandatory for you to complete even though some of them are optional (like Keira's side quests). Doing all of this will increase your level which in turn makes other quests seem lower and thus easier.
You're playing on PS4 AND PC??? Hmmm, why not just play on one? And im 1/3 through Act I. I'm supposed to travel by boat to Skellige but want to clear out as much as possible in Velen before doing so.
The Witcher 3 is awesome, no doubt and game of the year thus far. Depending on how Batman turns out, it's going to come down between these two games for most.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I just played through all the ways to handle you know who in the Count R's Treasure quest.
My favorite outcome is
Spoilerbringing menge in to the torture room to see how triss is doing and she slaughters him herself. I considered going with the outcome where you let her get tortured awhile longer but he says something about the treasure being on Kovir, but triss seems upset at the end of that one so I will settle for the first. On ps4 I just slaughtered everybody from the beginning lol"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
I realized that it's important to do the story and critical quests in the game as it affects the ending and storyline of what happens. Majority of the side quests can be done at any time. Because of this, it may seem like the user is at a higher level for other main quests but it's because of the main story and critical side quests where you get the most XP. Then doing a side quest and acquiring 100XP will seem like a lot when it's really not.

Re: The Witcher 3
As far as why I'm on PC and ps4, I was about to do yens quest on skellige on ps4 and I was reading that my computer could run the game better than I originally thought. I traded in a some old ps4 games I won't ever play again so it was only about another 20 bucks for the PC version. Loading times from a SSD are amazing and the game just looks and runs very smooth on my PC.
I should have started on the PC but I overestimated the requirements for running the game on ultra."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Also, for what it's worth, on the higher difficulties you get less XP. On death march I was told its 80 percent of normal XP or something like that.
I've definitely noticed. I was way over leveled on my normal/blood and bones mix play though."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
Finally got back from the Great Smokey Mountains and was able to finish up the Lady in the Woods/Family matters quest line...
SpoilerI killed the tree spirit and helped the Baron go get his wife. The daughter came and they argued and went with the Eternal Flame. How great are these story lines? It has been such a long time since I actually cared about my decisions and the characters. Just absolutely amazing, I also read some of the other ways it could have went and am blown away by the impact your choices make.
Safe to say I am addicted to this game once again.Comment

What's y our favorite deck to play with?
My northern and nilfgard decks are very strong right now, at least for where I'm at in the game, and my scoia'tel deck is getting there."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
Prefer northern so far, probably the most balanced.
Monsters can get a lot of attack on the board quick, but are extremely vulnerable to frost and fairly weak to scorch.
Scoia'tel Lots of medics and flexible troops (agile), but really susceptible to scorch since so many of their units have the same attack.
Nilfgaard I don't quite understand, mirrors Northern quite a bit just with worse cards (spies give higher attack, troops have less attack, especially bonded), unless I am missing something.
Northern I find really balanced, good units across all three types with good card acquisition, biggest flaw is that it's dependent on a good initial draw. If you don't get those spies and you get a poorly mixed draw, your hand can be pretty weak.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
There's four of them and all four are optional. However, they're listed under the critical path quests so it's recommended that you do them. After those four, you have 19 more quests to do in the main story with 3 of the 19 being optional. So...yeah, you're getting near the end of the main story.Comment

I guess that explains why I get more XP than others. I'm playing on "Just the Story" difficulty level and yes, I know that's easy but I haven't completed an RPG of any kind since SNES/PSone. I have died in the teens already and despite playing on easy, it's still a challenge, especially for me since I don't play this genre. Figured that if im going to play an WRPG, mine as well play what's regarded as the best one available to play. Funny part is that im not over leveled. Most fights I get a challenge even when im leveled higher. Yeah, im a pansy *** but I want to be able to enjoy this game and not get frustrated or aggravated. Out of the 35 games I completed on 360/PS3, not one of them was an RPG of any kind. I tried Dragon Age: Inquisition, Lords of the Fallen and Bound by Flame but none of the three held my interest. Dragon Age was the most though, a few hours but after a while, I was like, "meh", I'll just wait for The Witcher III. After this game, I don't even know if/when I'll play through another RPG of any kind. LOL.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
One of my problems with the quests, mainly side quests, is that you aren't presented logical and reasonable options for a resolution in an attempt to force the quest into a grey area choice. Prime example, and last quest I did for the night, one called Little Red
SpoilerSo you enter a village and there is some arguing. You approach and ask what's wrong. They give you a story how there was a band of bandits terrorizing the area, eventually one of the villagers, Bertram, got the bright idea to sick the witch hunters on the group. Well the group's leader, a woman known as Little Red, finds out and intends to kill Bertram. The village offers you money to protect them.
So you wait and the band attacks the village, you are given the opportunity to talk to Little Red. She tells you there is more to the story, Bertram was actually in cahoots with her, feeding her ripe targets for a share of the loot. He got greedy and they refused, so Bertram called in the witch hunters. Obviously Bertram is a POS, but these bandits also can't be left to terrorize the area.
Logically I am thinking I can kill the bandits, then out Bertram after for the man he is, let the villagers get their own justice on the guy selling them out. So I kill the bandits and their leader (which, as a bonus, ended up being a werewolf), but then never get the option to out Bertram.
After I look up the quest online, if you let them have Bertram the villagers just think you are with the bandits now and are angry.
So the options are only to let the bandits have their way with whomever, or let Bertram get away with his crimes. Why can I not kill the bandits and out Bertram to the elders? Wouldn't that make the most sense as a solution to this quest?
I'm nearly ready to move on to Skelliege, have the map nearly cleared of question marks (there is one right in the middle of the bottom of the map that I just can't get to, there is a set of locked doors I'm guessing it is behind). Played about 85 hours.Comment
