Re: The Witcher 3
Love reading things like this about this game. I'm a middle school teacher and high school varsity coach so free time is limited right now but come February vacation I'll be pounding some hours into this game as I start my journey.

Re: The Witcher 3
Same here man. Bought this back when it came out, played for a few days, then all of my buddies jumped back into Destiny so I followed suit. Played that up until FO4, but I needed a break from that, so I redownloaded this the other day.
Now that I'm actually fully back into this, I could see this being my favorite game of all time when I'm done. It's bar none the best open world I've ever seen, the quests are all amazingly well done and immersive, and the gameplay is fantastic. Not to mention the graphics which are the best I've seen in an open world game.
I just got to Velen this morning, and now I'm onto the Bloody Baron quest after clearing out all of the areas of interest in the surrounding land. That's assuming I don't get sidetracked playing Gwent again. I'm so damn excited to keep exploring this world.
The unfortunate side effect is that I really don't know if I can go back to Fallout after this. That was my most anticipated game, well, ever, but the Witcher is in another league entirely, and I really don't have time for two massive games at once.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Man, I literally can not get enough of this game. Level 15 now and in Novigrad. Some of the quests (not even main quests mind you) have been so damn memorable.
Regarding the Bloody Baron:
SpoilerWound up releasing the tree spirit and heading down to the Bog to help save Anna with the Baron. Anna winds up dying in front of Tamara and the Baron, and I had a bad feeling when the Baron quietly told me to return to Crow's Perch for my reward. When I returned to the Perch and found him hanging from the tree, I literally had to put the controller down for a bit. I honestly had come to feel bad for the guy, as you could tell he KNEW he screwed up with the way he treated his wife (especially when you find out she had also been cheating on him) and subsequently alienated his daughter. I so badly wanted to get down to the Bog and help him save Anna, but it was not to be. All because I made the 50/50 choice to let the tree spirit free, which is something I was VERY up in the air about. I was glad to head to Novigrad after finishing this story line. It really took a lot out of me.
Probably the single best quest line I've ever played in a game, and it's just a damn side quest in the grand scheme of things. It overshadows a lot of the other great storylines in the game, but manages to seamlessly weave itself into the main narrative without feeling forced.
Pretty sure I'm close to finishing up the story in Novigrad, so it'll be onto Skellige soon. Can't wait to see the different landscapes. On that note, how big is Skellige? I honestly didn't realize that Novigrad was essentially just a city with some surrounding land, and it's actually been cool break in the story having so many quests be more dialogue and character related as opposed to direct combat. Velen was absolutely massive, and I've still got some question marks to hit up there as well.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Skellige is maybe my favorite map/area/location in any game ever. There are a bunch of side islands you can explore so the grand total size wise is pretty big"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
Just finished a 4-5 hour secondary quest? In Skellege amazing place. The castle wow!(lol damn) , I leveled up 3-4 levels, was gripped to the story the whole time. Picked up a trophy, had sex with Yen, sailed and traveled by horse everywhere,amazing/exhausting!SpoilerAn crate Kingmaker?
Could someone explain the repair kits? How do I use them? Game is so deep.
I haven't patched the game did they put in some kind of storage? What are you guys doing with all of your weapons you acquire? I just sell them toso I at least know where they are. If a game ever needed a cool storage/display base its this game coulda made something awesome.SpoilerHattori

Re: The Witcher 3
Definitely patch the game.
Post launch support was sensational. They improved the game tremendously. And yea, they added a storage chest."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: The Witcher 3
Thanks man, great news. This game wow, I set it down picking up a bunch of games since and I guess I didn't get it right away but now things are making sense and decisions are showing consequences. I think fast traveling around killed it for me when I first got it, half the fun is the journey just to get wherever.

Re: The Witcher 3
Well I revisited the game and took the griffin out. The game definitely took off from there. I am really liking it now. Just a level 5, but I like how you can explore the map and side quests open up question mark locations and events. The game was overwhelming at first but once I realized it keeps giving you tutelage for a while, it really helped.
Really awesome game. Great level design.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Man, I have this and FFVII to play through to give me my RPG fix.. it's hard juggling them with NBA 2k16 and Rocket League. Loving all these options, though!
This game is simply beautiful and I've only played a couple hours. Also, I've never been so invested in side quests like I am with this game. Not to cause any trouble here, but I just wasn't impressed with Fallout 4 when I watched my roommate play through some of it. The story and the connection to the characters just didn't seem there.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
FO4 is amazing. I think the thing that makes it immersive is the FPS combat style is awesome. But yeah, there are things about it that wear thin over time. The Witcher has a lot more depth, the world is a lot bigger and there are a million side quests and things to find. The combat in the Witcher is not that responsive, so that would be my main complaint. It's not the end of the world, but if you are used to a timing based game like Dark souls it takes a little getting used to.
For example when I go for a quick strike, it can be tough to time out a roll dodge to escape the counter hit. Even with the clunkier controls, it is still an amazing game.Comment

Make sure you've tried switching to the Alternate Movement option for Geralt. It makes things MUCH easier and more responsive.FO4 is amazing. Re: The Witcher 3
I've had the Witcher 3 theme loaded on my ps4 and have read the background. I feel I'm ready for the game which my wife is giving me on Christmas. I hope it lives up to the hype! I definitely feel I will like it more than DAI which I liked but found tedious, filled with fetch quests and a story that was nothing special.Comment
