Re: The Witcher 3
The game must've read my mind. I didn't even realize until earlier today that I had a level 40 set of Viper gear that I was just able to unlock.
It was exactly what I needed given that I can't really get motivated to go back and find the lower level items for other Witcher gear sets. And from what I gather, the Manticore gear seems to have the same lack of requirements, so I may look that one up as well here pretty soon.

Re: The Witcher 3
So...this game is pretty fun, and I can see why it tops a lot of people's lists. I really like the balance between active combat and the strategic side (the use of potions, bombs and character upgrades). On the "Blood and Broken Bones" difficulty I'm finding that I definitely have to utilize both to get through a lot of fights. If there's one thing that's bothering me right now it's that I'm finding it a little difficult to lock onto enemies ahead of time - they basically have to be aware of me and/or charging at me to get the lock-on to work.
I took the Sun and Stars general "perk" as my first ability point - seemed like good value since meditating doesn't restore your vitality on that difficulty. Will probably focus on a medium armor-type equipment setup so I can get a good grasp of sign usage without having to be overly reliant on them (as I'm sure a light-armored would probably have to). I don't really want a glass-cannon type as my first kind of build.Comment

This is a personal preference, but I avoided the Sun and Stars stuff completely. Felt like it throws off the balance of difficulty for health regeneration.So...this game is pretty fun, and I can see why it tops a lot of people's lists. Probably doesn't make a huge difference either way, buy I enjoyed the small added facet of managing potions like swallow and making sure I had enough food on hand to supplement my vitality.

Re: The Witcher 3
I finished The Witcher 2 and just started my second play through of The Witcher 3.
I am thinking of playing on the hardest difficulty. However, I just started and already died three times to a pack of wolves. I'm not sure if I will stay on this difficulty, but I will give it a shot.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
I can understand that. For my part though, in my inexperienced state with this game I'm still needing to use all my potions (including swallow and even the decoctions in desperate situations) and eating food when necessary. I don't just sit around and wait for my Vitality to top out - the sea and stars bonus is really only showing up passively when I'm traveling between towns and just fighting enemies i see en route. This is a personal preference, but I avoided the Sun and Stars stuff completely. The only thing it's really doing from a practical standpoint is keeping me from eating so much food that I'd have to buy more, which I'm quite frankly thankful for given that I've been very money-crunched early on in the game. Between buying alchemy/crafting ingredients , the crafting process itself, and especially repairs, I'd end up grinding loot drops to sell just to keep myself going if I was forced to eat more food than I have been.Comment

Re: The Witcher 3
Does anyone else hardly ever sprint while riding Roach?
There's just something so relaxing about the clip clop of Roach's canter. Even if I have a really long way to travel... I'll just hold it on auto and sip on a drink along the way, taking in some of the great scenery, color, and lighting that this game has to offer.

Re: The Witcher 3
LOL, yep. Especially if I'm just going through a new map visiting each little settlement along the way (Velen, the area I'm in right now has a TON of those). Allows me to notice any potential sidequest I might run into along the way a little easier too.Does anyone else hardly ever sprint while riding Roach?

It's a pretty game, and doesn't really suffer at all for being 30 FPS (PS4 Pro). It's a stable 30 from everything I've seen so far, which is absolutely no problem for me.Comment

Glad to hear it's just not me. It's relaxing indeed and a great way to admire the scenery.Does anyone else hardly ever sprint while riding Roach?

Re: The Witcher 3
Question for anyone, though I want to be careful how I ask it:
Without telling me what they could be used for, is there any other use for "duplicate" witcher contract trophies (ones that provide the same bonus as another trophy)? I ask because they seem to sell for at least something, and they're too heavy to be carrying a ton of them around with me.
I stashed them for the time being, but I'm still curious.Last edited by bcruise; 12-21-2017, 02:07 AM.Comment

Spoilerthere is a merchant outside of Oxenfurt, west side, that will pay 250 gold per instead of 25 gold. Though it may have changed, I have not done it in a good while. I hoard everything.Last edited by Bullit; 12-21-2017, 03:38 AM.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012
