    Re: The Witcher 3

I finished up Hearts of Stone yesterday. At times I feel like I'm being redundant and oft-times repeating myself, but that was an amazing quest line and probably one of the best of the whole game. The characters are interesting, the quests are some of the best designed of the whole game, and the new enemies and bosses are difficult without being cheesy or infuriating.*

The expanded territory surrounding Novigrad and Oxenfurt felt new despite being part of an existing territory with its small patches of woods (and its haunted wood), mills, meadows, and farms.

Some may find the Enchanting to be too costly for its investment, but it really multiplies the effects of your combat and potions/decoctions to an insane level. Some of them are a waste, but there are some really useful enchantments there. Plus, its just another layer to manipulate and another way to make Geralt your own.

    Spoiler

For a moment I contemplated to let Hearts of Stone sink in as it was, by the end, one of the most intense series of quests Geralt has had to undergo. Velen and Skellige are still riddled by Guarded and Hidden Treasures and Smugglers caches. I have been devoting an hour of playtime the last week to sailing the seas of Skellige and hauling in treasures to sell.

After clearing the immediate area of where Hearts of Stones ended I quickly took the notice from Toussaint and started up Blood and Wine. I only played for about an hour, but this region is beautiful. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this.

Playing through Wild Hunt again and now through Hearts of Stone - I forget just how many damn good one-liners Geralt has.

I need to start keeping a list.

              The Witcher 3

I didn't know we were all gonna run HoS for the first time as a group! I may have held off all those months ago.

And Fresh, welcome to alchemy bro. Let me know when you see the light and drop signs altogether. Blood and Wine will blow your mind with the build possibilities.

Started Ng+ a couple weeks ago. Damn my build is a super glass cannon. If I get hit, strong chance I insta die. But if I'm sharp and on my game, I almost insta kill everything. Very rewarding. Makes me feel like such a badass when I go hours without dying now.

I don't have any points in signs at the moment. I still use them in combat but I find the potion and oil affects increases combat significantly more.

I'm at the point where I will enter combat with two decoctions, Tawny Owl and Thunderbolt potions, and still have toxicity left over for more.

With the Invigoration enchantment, the water hag and ekkimara decoctions, and whirl Geralt feels like a BAMF.

So far I've been able to craft one piece of the Grandmaster wolven gear. I was surprised it didn't upgrade the mastercrafted version.

I also have opened up the Mutagen slots. I wish I knew you would need to dump skill points into them to open them up or else I would have been banking them.

Use a clearance potion, or go hunt down Places of power. Get the second green mutagen for your decoction build.

                    Also don't underestimate Rend.

Rend is absolutely brutal. Not as many opportunities to use it, but timing it just right for an approaching enemy is always nice. For the last man standing I always use Axii and Rend on them.

When you enchant armor to change its weight class that only affects the cheat piece correct?

Enchantments affect the item they are enchanting only.

Hmmm - could've sworn it applied to everything.

It took me about 2 hours to complete last night and along with Til Death Do Us Part (flipping hilarious) was all I got done last night.
