        Re: The Witcher 3

I've been running around with the Viper gear set since I finished Hearts of Stone. The critical damage and poison resistance buffs are making it hard for me to switch to anything else. Plus, once you dye the trousers black then everything just gels.

I visited the Lady of the Lake and was bestowed a great reward. I currently have its damage increase sitting at 22 (out of 30). The thing is a monster. I'm thinking about retiring it though, because it makes most encounters quick and dull. I barely use Whirl anymore as most fights are finished before they even start with that thing. Still, I love the wolf-head handle peaking out atop Geralt's shoulders so decisions.

Last night I crafted the Grandmaster Wolven set and swords. It all looks wonderful - the little details these guys put into the armor and clothing textures is amazing. I dyed the trousers and boots black and Geralt immediately held a heavy metal rock concert on the Tourney Grounds. The oil and bomb bonuses sound very handy to me as I'm always switching up my oils when running around the map.

My problem is forcing myself away from those awesome Viper school buffs. Typically the sets are fairly interchangeable with 10-15% differences here and there, but 75% for critical hits on the swords? 100% poison resistance on the armor? Ultimately I don't think I will tell the difference, though, especially since I have Superior Golden Oriole.

Not to mention I finally put Levity enchantment on my gear. I was a little disappointed to learn that the extra 4 Skill Slots are locked to the color of your Mutagen.

I do in all rpgs I play. The story, background, setting is an integral part of these types of game. It sets the mood and puts things in perspective.

You guys have any pointers for someone just starting up? It feels a little overwhelming reading all the stuff you guys do.

Experiment. See what types of abilities will work best with your approach. Utilize all the tools at your disposal.

Honestly, a lot of it just comes from playing for 200 hours and becoming familiar with the game and its mechanics. My current playthrough is sitting at 133 hours and I'm still feeling around different skills.

My piece of of advice would be to take your time. This game can be really deep and confusing at times. But take your time, read all the books, character bios, monster info etc.

Bombs, potions, decoctions, signs can all be your friend. If you really take your time and prep for your battles they can truly be epic and fun.

Lastly explore, explore and explore some more. I have found dozens of adventures and great things just wandering around. One of my favorite adventures happened with a lady flagging me down on a bridge asking for help. No sign of it on the map just a random lady. It led to a 2 hour romp around Novigrad.

Level 43. In Blood and Wine I am through Blood Run, but I've been roaming around and doing side quests.

                        Bullit, what quest was that?
