    Re: The Witcher 3

Just a heads up for those that don't own this masterpiece. The Complete Edition is currently on sale for $24.99 in the Playstation Store. That's the base game plus the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansion packs. Highly recommend jumping on this if you don't have it. I have the disc, but I'm considering grabbing the digital version so that it's always ready to load up and play on my PS4.

You gotta remember to go straight to the every shop in every little settlement you go to and buy the Gwent card(s) they have. Because if you're going for collecting the whole set, trying to find that one guy you didn't buy from is a real PITA.

Oh yeah, I think I've hit everyone up to where I am on Skellige. When I get back to Novigrad I'm going to give the Passiflora tourney quest a shot. I've done all the character and region specific Gwent quests so I think I'm pretty prepared.

Started a new play through, today. It’s gonna be this and MLB:The Show up until the Red Dead 2 release. It won out over Fallout 4 and Horizon:Zero Dawn, but I guess I couldn’t go wrong with any of these. Three of my favorite games of all time.👌🏻

Man, this game is good, but it dragsssss. I'm not really loving the quest structure, where you have to meet someone, then this someone will only help you if you find someone else, then this someone else will only help you if you do something for him, then you find a side quest with this same structure on the way and when you're midway through it, you can't even remember what you were doing before.

Doing a lot of random stuff without any feeling of progression. Still very early on the game (Baron's quest), but so far the game looks very overrated (would probably feel better about it if the hype wasn't so immense though). Oh yeah, and the movement sucks, really clunky even on alternate. Playable enough for an RPG, but makes it hard to call it a "masterpiece".

I’ll agree with you on the movement. I wish it were as fluid as say, Horizon: Zero Dawn, but a lot of that other stuff you said is what we would call BLASPHEMY. Lol!

Really, I'm just busting chops. This is absolutely one of the best games that I have ever played and in my opinion one of the best ever made. But with that said I get why it doesn't hit with some folks, I really do. But for me it hits all of my buttons and it just does it for me. As I have said I am on my 4th play thru and each one has been over 300 hundred hours in length. I honestly don't ever see a time where I will not be playing The Witcher in some form. I own 2 copies now and if it ever comes to Switch I will buy a 3rd copy in a heartbeat.

Alright, I'm giving it a chance.

                          Spoiler

To be honest, I'm having fun doing all of this, because the game is actually good, so maybe I'm being harsher than I should. But what did I say about the quest structure?

                          Spoiler

The annoyance of these endless streams of subquests just to get a person to talk is visible even in Geralt's face, which is kinda funny, because I see he feels the same as me. This makes the pace of the plot slower than a snail. The good side of this is we have an unreasonably lenghty main quest to play. But it would help if we were driven by a main objective not as mundane as "I have to find a girl".

Despite all of this, I'm getting hooked by the gameplay and the brilliance of the world, so I'm sure I'll play this game to the end. I just hope to see some plot being thrown into this, because so far I haven't seen any.

I will agree that the movement is clunky and Witcher Senses are over used. The writing, combat, and everything else are just epic.

                              Re: The Witcher 3

There is definitely a bit of clunk to the movement, but I would say the majority of my complaints in that category faded away with time played.

Once you're fully acclimated to the game engine, you subconsciously compensate and tweak your play to help smooth things out. Especially with the alternative movement option.

The first 3rd of the game does drag on a little, to be fair. Even with the stellar Baron quest line, and at least a handful of really good side quests/contracts. If you aren't falling in love with the overall world, like alot of us did, I can definitely see why people would drop off here.

I used this point in the game, almost entirely in Velen, to "grind" and built up Geralt as much as possible. I did a ton of exploring and random question mark clearing, as well as some treasure hunting for decent witcher gear upgrades.

By the time I was starting to lose interest I was already overdue for my first trip to Novigrad, and from that point on the game story becomes so much more dense. And while the overarching objective of "find girl" remains, there are so many twists and interesting subplots that snowball from that point on.

I'm sure it's not for everyone, but if you use your time in Velen (up to level 15ish, I think) to build up a solid base for Geralt, while maybe starting to solidify what stlye of character you want, that time spent will set you up for at least another 80+ hours of an awesome overall experience.
