A mixture of both. I like to clear areas first but once it becomes tedious I'll hit up a mission then return and do the area more. Try not to burn out on one thing. Although I haven't touched this game in about two weeks. :/

Yeah I beat the game but am still playing because I didn't take out all of the forts. I cleared some areas clean. But not all..then there is the dlc missions I haven't even started yet.

Do the main story then blow some time on the side missions...try to get those optional objectives if you want to challenge yourself while completing missions. It's so much fun and not a big deal if you fail lol.

Sometimes I'd use the berserk darts to make the enemies all take each other out while I sat in cover under stealth and watched then cleaned up the spoils.

Only thing I can't see me doing at all, collecting all the stuff from all the little beaches and sandbars out in the ocean (the uncharted areas). That is just mind-numbingly tedious and not at all worthwhile. In fact, whoever thought littering the overworld map with collectibles should be keelhauled just for a nice demonstration (then they can put that in the next game, just for it's terrible-way-to-die-ness).

Anyway, I started playing again, finishing up the out of animus hackings and found a stupid plot hole

I'm going to have to agree the animus thing needs to die out.

Yeah, agreed on the animus. In the prior games, the implimentation was terrible as well, not to mention convoluted as hell. Anything involving Desmond was terrible, atleast IMO.

They need to just drop anything involving the animus and just do a complete story from within the world they are creating.

I'm way too OCD. I have to finish the collectables in area before I move on and that's why I'm 30 hours+ in and still only on sequence 5. Plus Ive been hunting and hoarding cargo for elite upgrades

I'll change it up depending on my mood. Lately I've been clearing areas of the map, but most of the time I'll just pick an activity or two and go from there. I finally started collecting the uncharted fragments and chests the other day. Those seem a little too "just for the sake of it" to me especially since it takes longer to set anchor and swim to the isles that they're placed on than to actually find and collect them.

I collected as much as I could "on the way" to a new location. I saw it as an opportunity to hear the new songs I had collected. There are a few annoying ones off the beaten path for sure.

I burnt myself out on this game with a couple really late nights a few weeks back, so I need to come back and finish the story, the legendary ships, and a few assassination and naval missions. Maybe tomorrow.

Adawale is a total bad azz!!! He is quickly is becoming my second favorite assassin after Ezio. Also, the DLC also brings up a point I forgot that I didn't like about the first game. Where were the French in the main story? Louis XIV death also was a massive deal around this time in the Golden Age of Piracy.

I just crash into the island, no reason to position and stop, just run into it and jump off

That could honestly probably be a game they make in itself based in France.

Man how crazy this game could be with even more super spy like elements, not totally splinter cell like but mixing in even more stealth and assasination missions would be great.

A game set in France sounds really good.

But a game set in Feudal Japan sounds MUCH better. I mean ninjas, and the real kind, not the ones that wear the kabuki play pajamas? C'mon, the game engine was made for it. Hell, I've been waiting for a somewhat realistic ninja game since ever.

I "speed up" whenever I see ships hanging out there when I'm in the fleet menu in the game.
