I take out ships but it always seems like I get next to nothing. Maybe I'm not taking out higher level ships?

Yes. Only high level brigs and big man o wars have lots of metal which are needed for most upgrades. Also warehouse raids are very helpful

Using the spyglass you can see exactly what cargo each ship carries. Pirate hunters always carry metal, so get a wanted level and watch the metal come to you.

Also if you sink the ships you only salvage half the cargo, board and take over the ship and you plunder all of it.

Some questions

First I can play as that one girl from the Vita game. On the main menu it has a separate option to play as her. Is it just a few missions with her?

Also for the DLC is it better to beat the game first then play the DLC or does it really matter?

It is just a few missions with her. An hour or two at most. Her bonus content is a lot if jumping and free running and goes by quickly.

Most of the DLC is mp. Freedom Cry is the only sp DLC. It takes place like 15 years after the main story ends and there are no spoilers in it. It doesn't matter what order you play but I'd suggest playing a lot of the main game to get a full appreciation of how different and brutal Ade is from Kenway.

So I've finally decided to sink some time into this game and holy **** is it amazing. I'm not very far (just plundered my first warehouse) but I'm really enjoying everything this game has to offer.

I'm really looking forward to harpooning and spearing some sea life.

Debating for this game as my next purchase for the PS4 or BF... I liked the 1st and 2nd but haven't really played much since. Am I going to miss a huge chunk of the story with going with this one?

As far as the "modern day" storyline goes, yes, you will actually miss a HUGE chunk of the story by not playing AC3. Don't know how much stock you put into that aspect of the game. Honestly, tho, part 3 was my favorite. May have something to do with being a history nut and the American Revolution being my favorite time period.

Just watch a walkthrough on youtube if you dont buy it that way you wont miss the story.

IMO it was the most boring of all the series although it did stick with its history theme.

This one though is much more fun and a great game IMO

Do you get the materials needed for the Kenway Fleet missions from ships and warehouses, because I never seem to have any materials for those missions.

No. You can get those from doing whatever trade missions you can do and also winning various conflicts to make the trade routes safer.

I was totally lost in the 5% of the game that is in the Abstergo office having not played II-III. The 95% of the game I was in the Caribbean being a pirate was incredible. Buy it.

After a few weeks away I picked this game back up (I played it so extensively before I just needed a break) and I got the the part in Sequence 10 (I believe) where

Mary Read dies and I was actually upset by it. She was a really cool character, what with her duality as Jack. Surely not the most emotionally attached I have ever been to a virtual character in a game, but they did a nice job fleshing her out and making her loss really felt. Love it when a game can do that to you.

Gonna go ahead and wrap this one up before Tomb Raider comes out for PS4. This game has just been epic and a real pleasure to play.
