    Divinity: Original Sin

Sven and the guys from Larian just launched their Kickstarter (well it's more like a kick-finisher) as the game has been well into production for a while now and they're just looking for some more dough to increase the development budget so they can increase the size of the team. This in turn will allow them to further increase the amount of gameplay present in the game world. So far the game has been funded by investors and their our own funds.

It will have an optional co-op system and ship with an editor/toolset for creating your own adventures too.

Here's a gameplay vid from last years E3...

Well the game is out now and it seems to be doing well just from world of mouth.

Here is a video of gameplay for those that are not familiar with the game:

          Classes:
          Battlemage
          Cleric
          Enchanter
          Fighter
          Knight
          Ranger
          Rogue
          Shadowblade
          Wayfarer
          Witch
          Wizard.

Very old school game in that it doesn't lead you by the hand. If you want a quest you will have to talk to people no quest markers and no way points for your quests. You will have to read the journal to learn more.

Right now I am about 70 percent sure I am buying this game at some point this week, 30 percent sure I will wait for a steam sale, 100 percent sure I'm buying it one way or another. Seems really well done. Doing very well in reviews so far

yeah, I picked it up in the steam summer sale. 20% off. I usually wait for bigger sales for those kind of sales, but the game seemed good, and $30 doesn't seem like a bad price for a game that could end up being great.

Haven't had time to get too far into the games, still hanging out around the first main city. hoping to get some time this weekend to play some.

Is there any type of summoning spells? I have always had a soft spot for summoners in games like this.

The Co-Op aspect has me intrigued as well. Its sitting in my cart on steam.

Yes, you can have 2 PCs and 2 NPCs + 2 summons.

in the very short time I've play, I've seen a Spider summon. I believe it's the one you can get to start off.

I believe there are elemental summons as well, Fire, Ice, ect... but I haven't got that far yet.

my characters are cleric and Wayfarer, although classes don't really mean that much in the game, more of a starting point or preset. you can customize to do what you want. I don't even think the class is listed anywhere other than the starting screen when setting up the 2 main characters.

Played this game for a bit. It reminds me VERY much of Baldur's Gate. It's far slower than a traditional ARPG as it's turn based, but has a lot of commentary that unfolds as the story progresses. Enjoyed what I played, but not a game you want to play when you're tired.

Thanks for the input. Will be buying but will wait a while. Other than tomorrow and Sunday (Golfing Sunday!!) I work through the 15th (Nightshift 12 hrs)..
So I'm going to wait until at least then to grab it.

Totally agree with Valdarez... and I'm enjoying the heck out of this game. It has taken me back to my Ultima series, BG series, and the AD&D series of games by SSI (Strategic Simulations, Inc.), when I was very much younger and had the time to get lost in these type of games.

This game will not hold your hand. There are no neon signs above quest givers or bright shiny paths of light telling you were to go next. If you want to know what's going on in the story... you have to read. Oh, and take/steal everything you can. Everything has a use. You see an innocent looking shovel on the ground.... grab it. Those who have played, will know what I mean.

Loving the combat. You have got to assess your enemy, terrain, etc... and plan your attack(s). The combat AI is pretty good as well. The enemies will move and try to flank your guys, as well as heal themselves via spells or potions. (Try to take out Priest/Mages as quick as possible. ) They are not just straw men put before your guys that you can hack down in a few turns with little resistance. They will also target certain members of your party in different situations.

I'm still doing stuff around the first town, and I've been playing a little every night since Monday.

Well, that's all for now. Again, this game is not going to be for everyone. However, for those that are looking for something to take you back to RPG gaming like we had back in the day... scrape some coins together and give this one a shot.
