Madden and NBA Live seem to break sales records year after year. Even the Live music soundtrack went platinum apparantly. Not only would they miss out on a heap of money each year if they went 2 years for their main sports games, but they might lose fans who may end up sticking with ESPN or other franchises after trying something different.

I think it's a good idea for games like SSX and NBA Steet though.

Two things:

1) The big franchises (Madden, Live, etc...) will come out yearly.

2) Even if they didn't, they would not get "slaughtered" not lose any sales to Sega. Sega might pick up some sales, but Madden, Live, etc... would still sell 2 million plus.

True, but wouldn't it be 2 million plus every 2 years instead of 4 millions plus every 2 years for Madden? That's a lot of lost money.

I guess that I just think more people would pick up the Sega game in the Madden 'off year', and give it a shot. All of us at OS are different, we analyze each game and find out which one we like better. There are a lot of casual gamers out there who just pick up Madden, and I bet they'd try out ESPN the next year to get a new game.

Which is the point of my original post. It would add life (through sales) to the ESPN Franchise.
