    Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)

If you're dying a lot from the jump kick, you're putting yourself in really bad spots too often. I agree that it sucks when it happens to you, but if a pilot is in melee range I don't know what your expectation is.

I see people asking for new weapons and game modes, but here are my questions: What guns do you want them to add? They've covered all the "types" of weapons you tend to see in an FPS. Do you just want it to be like CoD, and have 8 weapons that all seem nearly identical except for their skin?

When it comes to game modes, which ones do you want? I can't see S&D working for this type of game. Something like sabotage might be alright, but how split up do you want the player base? Also, before anyone comes up with any game modes that exclude titans, don't bother. Its not happening.

On another note, people have to get over complaining about the smart pistol. Its not good, and if you died to it, you would have been killed faster by the carbine anyway.

Smart pistol is just there to help people that are awful get their titan a little quicker. It's a non issue as far as killing pilots goes.

My expectation is that if I'm shooting at them (and hitting them) that they shouldn't be able to kick me, and kill me, from 10 feet away.

I don't know. Something different. They created this very fluid style of game play and included a bunch of generic game modes to go with it. Makes no sense.

I'm not saying that it just does too much damage. I hate the entire idea of it. It's an aimbot wrapped up into a legitimate weapon. You're leaving out the fact that it also aims for you, and lights up when there is a guy in range. You can be sitting near the ceiling looking at one wall, and shoot at a guy (without aiming) at the other wall. That's cheap. Sure, I can be killed faster by any other gun, but at least they had to aim.

It's just another garbage weapon in the collection of 10 that we have.

I'm well aware that I didn't play smart and the majority of those deaths were my fault. Just to give you an example though, there was one instance where I had just climbed on the roof of a small building and a guy kicked at the wall and I died. My expectation would be not to die if I'm on the roof and the other guy kicks the wall.

It could have just been lag and on his screen I was still climbing up, who knows the game was playing weird for me last night as I've done really well by my standards until last night.

I totally agree though that I was putting myself in bad spots, mostly due to lack of map knowledge as most of the maps I've only gotten to play a hand full of times. I also really need to work on my map traversing skills, I was amazed to see how many people are just flying around the maps now.

I would just like to see them tweak a few things.

First Ogre Titan. Shield Core IMO is pretty WEAK and the Ogre itself doesn't feel like it takes more damage to knock off than the Atlas. The Ogre needs to be much more durable and difficult to take down. With the Atlas and the Stryder their special ability is noticeable. The Damage Core for the Atlas is beast. The Strafing for the Stryder is also top notch, but the Shield Core IMO is just too weak and the Ogre itself is pretty weak. I know the concern then is everyone will just use Ogre's. Well make it slightly slower.

Second, the Eva 8 needs a slight nerfing. This thing has more range than I thought.

Co-op horde mode would be killer. The AI is there, we have grunts, etc and AI Titans. Increase their numbers in waves while adding dynamic objectives to keep people moving and it could be a lot of fun.

They are changing up the matchmaking a little bit.

                  1) I don't think anyone thinks the animations on the jump kick are particularly good, but just going off my own personal experiences, I've barely been killed by it at all. Of course I've seen the weird thing where you feel like you've put enough bullets in them to get the kill, and then they magically kick you. On the other hand, I've seen guys whiff on kicks at point blank range, its just one of those noobie things that work sometimes(but mostly don't) in a head on fight.

                  2) I really enjoy all the game modes, CTF/Domination/LTS in particular require a ton of teamwork, but I thought about it a bit tonight and came up with some game modes that might be fun in this type of game. Oddball could be really good depending on how it was implemented. A "defend the leader" while trying to kill the other teams leader could be great. I already mentioned sabotage...thats all I have for now.

                  3) I don't know what else to say about the smart pistol. I've been killed by it maybe twice my entire time playing, and in my opinion if you were killed by it, you put yourself in a poor position where you probably would have died anyway and paid for it.

I don't know how much I would tweak it, but the ogre feels like he has the worst core ability. I'm not sure how much extra shields its receiving(maybe double?) but if a decent titan player is on you, it doesn't make enough of a difference. I've played as the ogre a fair bit, and it does have noticeably more health than the atlas, but not enough to counter how much mobility you lose and not having the damage core.

Game seems fun but I have yet to get in the flow of things. I think maybe because im usually playing with randoms. The bulk of my Cod shooting game buddies is still on 360 so im pretty much solo. One thing I can't stand is when I'm putting in work but still losing constantly.

                      Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)

I just don't get the things people are complaining about.

First, lets look at the kick kills. I can count on one hand how many times I've died by a kick that looked to not connect. Most of the time the collision detection looks fine. Personally I'd rather a "animation-less" melee attack than the BF4 style of "locked in attack". I've bitched far more in BF4 about standing over someone or running up behind someone and the damn melee animation won't trigger they spin around and shoot me.

I completely agree the damn Van Dam kick is stupid looking and I would of rather seen them do a cool *** Katana type of sword slash for the melee which took off the limb it connected with. I mean we have the body deformation already in the game.

Next, the weapons. This is not the type of game to have 30 weapons all with slightly different ranges, damage, rate of fires, etc etc. There is to much to balance for that. Instead they cover the gamut of style of guns.
                      • Pistols for back up
                      • Shotguns for extreme close
                      • SMGs for CQB
                      • Carbines for mixed range
                      • Rifles for medium to long
                      • DMR for long range with rate of fire
                      • Sniper for percision long range

The the anti-titan weapons are pretty creative and all have their pros and cons. The pilot abilities I think could be expanded on little deeper though.

Game modes, I'm not sure what else could be covered

The one area I think they could of expanded on is better prestige. I'm currently not going to ever do it. A little icon I could careless about. Give me titan camos, added pilot looks, something other than a stupid little icon.

Yup. I love when people point out flaws in games and then people respond with "well maybe you just are not good".

This game is far from perfect. The biggest thing I'm finding after a good amount of hours of play is the replay value is not there. I have no reason to care about prestiging. I don't want this game to be cod but with cod I had incentive to prestige. There was always a late unlock that I wanted to get unlocked for my character permanently. Whether is was a perk, gun etc. That incentive is not there with Titanfall.

I've reached rank 45 and I don't think this game is even a system seller. Don't get me wrong...it's a lot of fun, an easy pick up and play game that can allow me to suspend my disbelief since it's not "trying" to mimic modern warfare, ex. I know CoD is just a game, but quick-scoping just shouldn't be allowed, but I digress.

The fact that environments, beyond hacking a robot or turret, are really not interactable, and do not change... like really?!? My titan cannot knock a tree down?!

The visuals are next gen, but the gameplay IMO is not. If this released on the 360 a year and a half ago it would be equivalent to a Gundam/Mech suit game w/ no hype train running it.

I agree completely. I love the game and have a blast with it, but I'm glad I got it on PC. Considering this was X1 big saving grace I don't see it as that at all. Considering the user base is dwindling daily as we speak is a big issue. Hell even I who loves the game can't help ignore it will not keep me as attached 6 months from now as I would of hoped. There is just to many truly next gen titles coming and they will make TitanFall be a mere distant memory sadly.

I think the game does a bunch of things right but there is several things that really hurt it also. First the movement speed is far to fast, it might not be ghost crack head speed but it is still to quick. Then, the titans, getting them so fast, and so often is not a good thing. Watching your Titan explode into the ground and you jump in was a amazing experience the first few times. After 3 to 5 times a game, multiplied by hundreds of hours and it seriously loses it's flair. If they would if made them much less common and difficult to obtain it might of retained that badass feel for longer. As of now it does not make me feel any more of a beast in a Titan!

I've praised the hell out the game since launch but I also can't ignore what will be the demise of the game.
