The biggest thing was we all were on mics, we constantly communicated throughout every step we took so we were on the same page, didn't make any attacks or moves until we were all in position and all said we were ready to go, when we all died and respawned, we took a minute to hang back and work out a new strategy to take to try and avoid dying again, and we did everything we could to revive each other as fast as we could when someone would go down.

Looking back in hindsight, that actually screwed us a couple times. Trying to revive a teammate, especially while entering the library as we for some reason had an affinity for dying on the staircase, we'd try to revive the downed guy who went down out in the wide open on the stairs, only to have one or two more people end up downed.
None of us spoke at all in our game, not on the mics but we did sort of figure out tactics, such as 2 of us going to high ground to snipe and 2 going low ground and advancing in pairs.

At the end when the most powerful guy died right on the cusp of beating the mission however he did fire up his mike to cuss up a storm LOL

Lol, Our group had three of them drop yesterday. I was sad as none of them had my name on them. Still have my SOCOM version, but I long for the first wave like the rest of the masses. Still like my Custom M44 all things being equal.

Lol, ah, those rages can be fun to listen to!

Yeah, we were a very chatty group and really planned out what we were going to do in every section we advanced through, as well as shared our distress at the thought that there was always going to likely be yet another wave and yet more shotgun rushers at every turn of the wall.

But we got it done! And I got a purple First Wave M1A that was a bit better than my M1A I had equipped at the time. Now to start my long quest after the ever elusive gold M1A.

How can you just talk to people like that in the game that you don't know? I'm scared...lol

Several days (4 I think) of running the challenge cheese and not a single person had a HE sniper or SMG to drop. It was disappointing.

Absolutely! I may be on tonight, it'll depend. My sleep has been screwed up all week, so I may just say screw it and jump on tonight until I have to leave for work, the same way I did that Friday night a couple weeks ago when we teamed up for the Joe Ferro mission.

And then either way, I'll be on for sure on Saturday evening/night. Plan on ravaging some daily missions and maybe even some rogues.

Haha, it actually seemed almost like just talking to a group of long time friends. Me and Birdman were already grouped up and were talking when I started the matchmaking.

Then as the four of us ran into the Consulate and started the first wave at the beginning, we just sort of all fell into a back and forth chat of not only trying to keep each other alive, but also our mutual hate and fear of the shotgun rushers. As the mission went on, it was like we had been teamed up many times before, we just started talking strategies while trying to get past tricky parts and were just constantly chatting back and forth while healing and reviving each other as necessary.

They actually were pretty cool guys. I know at least one of them added me as a friend after we all called it a night, and I added both of them to my friends list. The more the merrier I say for grouping up on missions, lol. And most importantly, they're not 12 years old and annoying like that one kid we had to put up with a couple weeks ago! These guys sounded maybe late-20s to mid-30s and were true team players in the Consulate mission.

No matter how many times we got killed or had to restart a checkpoint, none of us really got frustrated because we kept dying and no one was pointing fingers or getting pissed at us all dying repeatedly, we just all took it at face value of we had a bad strategy that resulted in all of us dying and kept trying to think of new strategies to get past those points of the mission and kept voicing our hate of the shotgun rushers, lol.

From my experience Hornet only drops DMR, AR and LMGs as far a weapons. I think Lincoln Tunnel guy drops shottys and gear. Not sure about the others as I didn't really farm either of them.

I'm probably wrong, but that is what I saw mostly drop from hornet.

Yeah those stairs were brutal. I think towards the end I started going down the stairs to get behind the pillar because the stairs became a death trap lol.

Or the long trek down the staircase to get the shotgunners to follow us back to the library. At least by the time we got them down there they seemed to come one at a time.

Yeah, that's what I've sort of noticed, I've run into fewer and fewer of the mountain dew jacked kiddie randoms. Probably since this game does require a degree of grinding and building gear/weapons, they are probably slowly migrating back to CoD, and that's fine with me!

Yeah, that library was tough to get through. Those stairs left absolutely no cover, so unless you were already hiding behind the wall or pillars at the bottom of the stairs, you were a sitting duck to those tanks. I found that out a couple times when I'd try to revive one of us who would end up downed on the stairs, only to get massacred myself.

And yeah, we ran up and down that staircase after the library so many times. But it did work! Trying to fight those shotgun rushers in that room or even in the stairwell there was impossible. Even with concentrating fire and flashbangs, all it took was one or two of them to fire off a blind shot with their shotgun and we were in trouble.

Through a LOT of experimentation, we actually started to go with the strategy that Jare mentioned for shotgun rushers. Fall way back and kite out so that they can't take down more than one of us with a single shotgun blast. Kite out, fire at them from three or four different angles, then depending on how many rushers we are dealing with at that exact moment, only one or two of us are in danger at that moment, while the rest can just keep unloading round after round on them.

That run through the other night taught me a lot about that mission on challenging. Not saying next time we attempt to tackle the beast that it will be any easier or quicker, but now we have some tried and tested strategies for various sections that we know can work.

Birdman will fit in absolutely fine with our various XB1 groups. It was a blast teaming up with him the other night. We teamed up maybe 10:30, 11pm EST, I think it was. Between doing Lincoln Tunnel on challenging, Grand Central and the Queens Tunnel daily missions on hard and then the Consulate on challenging, it was after 5am EST before we both finally called it a night. It was one hell of a fun night!

The Library can be done easily once you get the hang of how to handle that section.

At the beginning you all go down together, stun the guys on top and bottom, and focus fire on each one. Typically we focus fire on the bottom guys, melt them quickly, then look up top for one guy who usually comes around the right side at us. Then if the healer is still up you get him next. When there is one guy left the second mob spawns and 4-5 shotgun rushers come at you, thats the part where we retreat back, funnel them, stun+ultimate (damage and shield) them and melt them down quickly, then go back down to melt down the remaining guys in there.

Next time I do it, I will record that section and post it.

The only room in that mission that still gives trouble, and the trouble is only because it takes so long to complete, is when you go down the stairs to the room with 3 tanks. I just can't figure out how to quickly get through that one.

Yeah I remember that room. It took forever but I don't think we really wiped on that area just do to the fact you could fall back up the stairs and they tend to walk back to their spots so if everyone is still in the stair area you can revive then and try again.
