    Re: The Order: 1886

I said nearly universal. And for a major release on a first party exclusive that has been hyped beyond all belief, those scores are a major, major disappointment. And nearly all of the "name" reviewers have been negative to hostile about the game. Sorry, this has the makings of a disaster. I hope I am wrong. And I am glad that you are enjoying the game. I have it coming from GameFly, so I will let my own feelings be known.

      Re: The Order: 1886

I just played the game at my cousins crib as he got it early in the city. The game looks fantastic in terms of graphical fidelity but I was completely turned off by the pacing of the game and the QTE nature of how cutscenes just seem to rule the roost. Also in hard the game felt easy...

I would not waist 60 on this game when you can bet it will be 35 or 40 within 2 weeks or 3 at Amazon.

Thought about canceling my preorder, but since I have GCU I'm still going to pick it up. I'll just beat it and trade it in towards The Show.

I think this is gonna be a big story and that you may end up hearing about layoffs down the road at the studio because the game under-performed. Yup, I think this one is gonna leave a mark. Bummer.
I don't see all this negativity hurting the game at all sales wise. If anything, it will help it because the "casual" consumer who just goes to the store to buy a new game isn't going to care about reviews and scores.

The truly sad part is that "gamers" (and I use that term loosely) are allowing themselves to be influenced by reviews and ratings when they shouldn't be. I have realized that reviewers are usually reviewing games that they don't even have any interest in or the review doesn't match the score.

Take Binary Domain for example. I gave it a 9/10. Awesome team based shooter. IGN gave it a 7.5 if I remember correctly but their review reads closer to a 9.

For me, it's very simple...if there's a game that I want to play, I will do so no matter what reviewers score the game. Not only that but when im seeing games like The Walking Dead, Journey and all these other truly boring slow paced games get high ratings and scores shows me that these reviewers don't know how to review a game or that they simply don't like the genre of the said game.

If anything, it's the so called professional critics that have ruined gaming more than anything. And yes, hype also plays a part in it but here's the thing - the only person who can overhype the game is themselves. I don't let any site, magazine or people in general hype me up for any game simply because doing so would only disappoint me in the end.

I have been interested in playing The Order for almost two years and im not going to let any reviewer or score lower or eliminate my interest especially when I know that I'll like the game more then they did and no way in hell, is it worse than a 7. And too cinematic? Yet point and click games like Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead get 8's and 9's?

I remember playing an old game on 3DO called Myst. It received good to great ratings yet I thought that it was the most boring game that I have ever played. And yet, a game like The Order is worse? Yeah right.

Luckily for me, the only opinion I care about is my own and while I don't think The Order will be a classic for me, im definitely thinking that the game will be in my 8-9 range. Either way, 12 hours to go and I will have the game.

Im looking forward to playing this. I've played so many huge open world games recently. A shorter, more linear game will be a nice change of pace.

This is exactly what I feel. In the past, I would finish a game like Dying Light in about a week or two. But I can't seem to continue with it right now because I've played so many open world games recently. The Order will be a perfect changeup

I'm sure this game will be better than Murdered: Soul Suspect (I don't see how you can't get much worse honestly), however between my Madden Online CFM, NBA 2K and GTA I don't really have time for a new game right now. Heck, I bought Shadows of Mordor on Black Friday and it's still in the wrapper.

I will definitely pay attention to what OSer's have to say about this game though. If the action and pacing are good then I don't mind about it being on the shorter side or being linear, etc. I actually prefer linear games since they usually tend to tell better stories and provide better action scenes. However, if it's "boring", then I wouldn't even want take time away from my other games to spend the five hours it takes to speed through it.
I can assure you if you pop that game in....it will not leave your console for a loooong time.

My non sports GOTY for 2014. Play it bro. It's awesome sauce.

More than anything, I'm disappointed that this "probably" being financial failure will dissuade more companies from pursuing new, interesting IPs.

These games are big money, and a loss like this will be even more fire from the suits for sure fire sequels.

Alien Colonial Marines was universally panned.

I bought it anyway as my son and I are huge Alien fans. I had been awaiting this games release for years. We played it 3 times all the way through on split screen co-op. Watching my son say "Let's rock" every time we got the smart gun was worth every penny.

Screw reviews. Play the game and judge it for yourself.

I typically wait for most games to price drop. Nothing wrong with that. But to deny yourself from playing a game based on some 20 something year olds personal thoughts?

                      LOL.

                      Happy gaming folks!

The trade in value for The Order: 1886 is $40 at Best Buy. With GCU, you get $44.00 so basically, the game will cost me $8.25 which is a steal as im expecting it to be in the 8 range for me personally.

The amount of games that I've played over the years that have gotten average reviews but I actually quite enjoyed are too numerous to count.

Seems the only way to get a decent review score from major sites and publications is to make an open world game, fill it with 25% main story (usually some re-hashed idea that gets lost in the shuffle by halfway anyway) and the rest of the game is filled with collectathons and half-baked side story filler.

The last few games I've played through have been GTA V, Far Cry 4, Shadow of Mordor and I am currently on Dragon Age. Don't get me wrong, these are all fantastic games but at more than one point with every single one, things started feeling like a chore before picking up again near the end. What's wrong with a focused, linear, stunning and great-sounding game that I can play through and go "oooooo look at the pretty grafiks". I don't want every game to be a grind. This is a visual and audio medium, I want to see what awesome things my PS4 can do with both. Up till now, its largely been multiplatform games or " re-masters" of last gen games. Here's a totally original product that might be the first game to make me say "this is what next-gen looks and sounds like" and it gives me 8-10 hours of decent gameplay while my jaw is dropped for most of it...what's the issue? Why does everything have to be one type of game these days?

The thing about GTA, Far Cry, Mordor, Dragon Age is that they have a **** ton of content but you actually dont have to do any side content if you dont want to. They can be as linear and non-grindy as you want them to be. However they have that **** load of content for people who get engrossed in the setting on top of the story. And they all have the oooo graphiks that youre talking about.

Dont make it sound like only linear games are capable of good graphics and sound. You ask for a PS4 exclusive that shows you what the console is capable of, outrageously linear gameplay is the epitome of what the PS4 is capable of? I can't buy that.

Order 1886 is a great game for rental consideration however. But for 60 dollars, you have to compare it to other 60 dollar games available; and it just doesnt stack up in value imo.
