    Re: The Order: 1886

In my mind this game is better than Far Cry 4, Assassin's Whatever Iteration We're On Now, Shadow of Mordor, etc. because it looks like a next gen game, has an engaging story, and doesn't add extra play time with endless, and mindless, fetch quests.

I don't mean to diminish the enjoyment others find from these games, but they're the same recycled garbage we've had since GTA and I was getting burned out playing all of them.

I'm really enjoying my time with the Order and look forward to actually completing a game as opposed to loosing interest rather quickly.

As I mentioned last week. I'm super slow when it comes to playing games. I'm barely on Chapter 3 and I've logged in almost 4 hours. I've died numerous times and that's on normal. This is one helluva game

My only thought about this is that the only thing you collect are the audio cylinders whereas everything else is just an "inspection." Still, it would be nice to have some sort of checklist of items inspected. Some of them are pretty trivial, but the world building they provide is pretty nice.

          I 100% agree, this is a true next-gen game...and I'm loving it as well!!

Life Is Strange has a section-by-section checklist of the collectible photos, and you can use Chapter Select to go right to those sections. Why doesn't every game have this?!

I gotta disagree with how you categorize those two titles I have bolded. Shawdow of Mordor IMO thus far has been the best next gen game I have played to date in terms of content, lore, action, controls, building and upgrading your character and the Nemesis system is fantastic. Some of the greatest moments I have had with a non sports video game have been pulling off decapitating finishers to Orc captains! The visuals were great as well. Just a great great game that screamed next gen to me.

Far Cry 4 has some of the best landscapes in video games I have seen yet. The game play although almost identical to Far Cry 3 is still top notch AAA quality. The new region (Kyrat) in which your hunting, exploring is pretty amazing so far (I just started this title last night).

I am sure The Order is very good. I love what I have seen and look forward to playing it in the future. But those two games for me have been awesome on PS4.

Just had to stick up for those two games. I am cool if someone thinks The Order is a better game than those two....it's all personal opinion. But those games are top notch well made titles.

If the Order 1886 is a true Next Gen game then my outlook for this generation of gaming has gone down hill quickly.

I didn't mean to say they were bad games, they just feel like old hat to me.

They're apples to oranges due to style and approach. I wouldn't rate Unity higher than The Order, but if I only had 1 game purchase for a month or two and had ample time to play it, I'd get Unity so I'd have something to play the remaining 3+ weekends.

Just a very different experience, by design. I haven't played them but the generally well received telltale episodic games are probably a much better comparison... and after playing and generally enjoying The Order I might pick one of those up next time they're on sale.

Farcry 4 to me is just like so many games before, missions, side missions, collectibles, etc... while it's not necessarily a bad thing, it has been done over & over. I will say Farcry 4 is a great looking game. Mordor is my personal GOY for 2014, i love the nemesis system and the game play is addicting, can't wait to see what the next one will offer.

How exactly is the Order new blood? It is a great looking game with linear gameplay that includes tons of cuts and QTE

I think I played that with Ryse

I think he's simply saying that narrative-first games are not in abundance on current-gen consoles.

                            In which case, I agree.
