    Re: The Order: 1886

I really can't fathom how any players are getting 5-6 hours on their first playthrough?

I'm on chapter 9 and already 6 hours deep. I've died around 5 times in total so it's not like I'm getting overwhelmed here.

And yes, I'm snapping a lot of screens...

But that said, if you're getting 5-6 hours on your first run then I'd have to wonder why you'd even purchase the game? You'd be clearly TRYING to plow through it for God knows what reason and this game is not for you.

It's a narrative experience, why play it any other way???

      Re: The Order: 1886

I see a lot of comparisons to Gears of War and Last of Us and I've made them myself but after playing through the game, the closest comparison I can come up with is actually a modern day Myst.

The developers focused on the looks and the narrative but your actual interaction with anything in the world is very limited. They only let you touch what they want you to touch which is the trick they used this first go-around with this engine to make it look as stunning as it is. You don't have to worry about the player seeing something they shouldn't graphically because they control everything from start to finish. Even the kitchen shootout where the pots move around are that way because the devs made them that way where other things are a lot more static.

Obviously, games have come a longgggg way since Myst and so there is a lot more you're able to do in this game then in Myst. But for their times, they're very similar.

Very enjoyable experience though. Looking forward to the sequel.

Narrative, yes.. Most story games are technically narrative. Doesn't mean the game isn't dictating the pace when it's doing most of the storytelling on it's own.

+ most of the actual gameplay sequences are pretty fast paced shoot outs and the actual exploration chapters were pretty linear and straight forward. Other than admiring the artwork and environment, there's no way to miss the objectives. It's a straight forward game.

Someone doesn't have to be playing this game for time to beat it in less than 7 hours. It's a good story that kept me continuing on and I didn't want to stop playing. That's why I beat it so fast, not because I had set a stop watch and set out to beat it as fast as possible.

Was away in San Jose for work since Sunday. I am looking forward to finishing this game up. Have a ways to go though. Currently at Chapter 6. My plan is to finish this game up by the time heists for GTA drops.

I guess I just don't have a problem playing a 4-6 hour game and being completely satisfied.

Games like The Order are like a movie to me...play it, enjoy it, and never revisit it again but totally satisfied.

If every game was a 20 hour game and a huge multiplayer comment, I would never be able to experience more than one game every 6 months or so.

Both Ryse and The Order brought far more to the table than the Evolve snoozefest.
I can appreciate that and to some that is a worthy investment but many that always want value for their money they will not want to be given $60 games with little to zero replay value and a 8 hour campaign.

Imagine MLB The SHow or Madden with no franchise mode or NBA 2K

We always complain about our beloved sports games regardless of how good they are.

Many folks are now wanting more for their money. Console gamers are demanding PC quality graphics and performance from 350 or 400 consoles. Not going to happen...

As far as I know, the game doesn't track it.

I make a mental note of the time I start and finish each night when I play.

I've been broadcasting mine on Twitch and that shows the time recorded so that's how I've been keeping track.

Here is my playthrough. Shortest one I've ever had, and I am totally fine with that.

I'll be getting the Platinum trophy in a few minutes. Need to get the Discombobulated trophy where you stun 30 enemies with the M2 rifle.
