    Re: Crusader Kings II

    my current game with England.

start with the old gods start date 867 I believe. Started with the Norse/Norse Viking Haesteining of Nantes. conquered Brittany really quick, took one of the 2 provinces in the duchy of Cornwall, used that as a staging point for an invasion of the petty kingdom of Wessex. was able to successfully grab that land, then took Normandy from France when they were busy fighting their own family member in the other Karling kingdoms. took the 2nd Cornwall county. created the Kingdom of Brittany, renamed it to Normandy.

Soon after that, I ended up switching to Catholic as the rebels and pressure from the Karlings started get rough. then the Norman Culture sprung up, so my dynasty became Norman Catholics. I kept pushing north, taking Wales and England, eventually created England and used that as my main title. I actually destroyed the Brittany/Normandy kingdom title. I let the dejure Wales and Brittany lands flip to England.

At that point I shifted my strategy a bit. I haven't expanded my own territory much since, but have started spreading my Dynasty out to other kingdoms. Also went crusading and giving lands to family members. My culture has also started shifting to English now that it's after 1100.

Currently the kingdoms of England, Frisia, Lotharingia, Burgandy, Sicily, and Greece are part of House Haesteining. Sicily and Greece were from crusades. Frisia was by marriage to their Queen. That was the first Kingdom to be under same Dynasty as England. Burgandy was kind of a surprise. I knew I had married off some members to a few duchies, but they apparently fought for control and won. Similar situation with Lotharingia, except I did help out a bit and sent some troops to help defend his lands while his troops when on the attack.

It seems my dynasty has 2 duchies in France as well. waiting for them to fought for control there, but right now neither have a claim yet. I had a dynasy member in charge of Aragon at one point, but they died out down there and it went to another dynasty.

There is at least one duchy controlled by my dynasty in Poland. Poland used to be huge, controlling Poland, Pomerania, and Bohemia.

Scotland is not my Dynasty, though they have been interesting to watch. they quickly formed and took over Scotland territory, they spread out to Ireland, this was early on before I start to go into northern England. Their mistake was creating the Kingdom title of Ireland. now it keeps getting split up, combined, then splitting again. We've been peaceful, only having a single war when I attacked them for a county they had that was in de jure England territory.

Do you play with any mods Solidice or just the vanilla game?

that playthrough is without mods. I might export that to EUIV at some point, so I played it on vanilla. I do own most DLCs. I think the only ones I don't have are the newer cosmetic DLCs(unit models and music). I got all the major DLCs, although I usually don't activate Sunset Invasion anymore.

In the past, I played with CKII+. and I play the Game of Thrones mod from time to time.

Steam Workshop integration and Steam multiplayer will bring Crusader Kings II in line with Europa Universalis IV. Custom mods will be easier to access and hopefully setting up an online game will involve less faffing around.

                    Can't wait for steam multiplayer

I finally got around to picking it up from the humble bundle sale yesterday, but won't be able to get around to putting anytime into it until Sunday.

Also if anyone got a few quick tips for a newbie before I start up feel free to let me know.

Prepare to be frustrated, lost and have no semblance of a clue as to what you're doing. The only way to really learn about this game is trial and failure.

I play weekly. Great game. I'm a little afraid to see how many hours the game says I've logged.

Is the humble bundle at the moment for 24 hours.

Should I get just the base game for $8 or is it worth it with all the DLC for $20? Quite a jump.
