Why not just sell your goods on the planet? I don't mess with flying with a bunch of valuable good because I always seem to get attacked. I've gotten a lot better, but more than 4-5 ships overwhelms me and I typically get shot down.

Added the soundtrack to my Spotify just now. Been mainly listening to the main one to hear the nuances, and want to hear how it is in space first with the deep synth sounds, then I will definitely listen to that one, as well as S U R V I V E - S U R V I V E, and God is an Astronaught - All is Bright (2011 Remastered) album. The 65daysofstatic OST would be good as well.

I was thinking I may have to do a name/number scheme like Stargate SG1/Atlantis eventually.

Example: P3X-888 (Theorized Goa'uld primordial home world, Unas home planet).

Great, now I want a procedurally generated Stargate SG1 game... stargates and the like. One can dream.

Yep, if there are 18 Quintillion like they say, it'll be rough having names for each. I think I've got my Dewey Decimal system in place for my discoveries now, just wish I would've started it day 1...

Besides my home planet(named Stargate I), I'm going with a combo of letters and a Roman numeral system for all systems, planets, and outposts, then just adding my numbering system to the name already given to the landmark.

Ex. Planet is in my first system, Alpha.
So I'd name it: AA Stargate I A<- Alpha System A<-Planet order
All markers/outposts on that planet are A with numbers in sequential order, so the 11th outpost I found would be AAXI Ragnarock Mines

It's working out well for me so far and it kinda gives me a 'map' of sorts to double back if I need to and kinda 'know' where I'm at.

Also, I'm sure a lot of you know already, but I found out that you can scan the buildings, just like you do for foliage/animals, and it identifies it with a little black and white bullseye on your compass up top, as well as your screen. I just found this out last night and it seems to help me get my bearings as well.

The scan building for a dot thing is dodgy as hell, I've scanned buildings I wanted to remember and actually found them again without a dot while dots randomly show up on things I couldn't have scanned.

It's pretty bad ***. Lot's of life (good and bad), plants, caves, I even found some bases under water. Some crazy stuff.

But make sure you have the O2 upgrade. Using Iron I make a bunch of shield plates and use that to refuel my O2 life support. If you run out of Iron no worries...you can mine it under water too.

The real question is, can you make that run in less than 12 Parsecs doe?

With a few modifications, the Millenium Pigeon can make it in about 15 or so.

Meh, I was hoping not to see anything like that, as I had my suspicions.

After I discovered it, I saw a bullseye in the distance, and although it was in the same line of sight as the 3 buildings pictured below, (so it COULD have registered when I scanned those), once I got to it, it was a trading station in the middle of the wilderness that I had not yet visited.

Dammit man, I just want to build some sort of compass so I can know which way is up!

Yeah, I hear you, VERY easy to get turned around. Sometimes you get lucky and other planets/moons are visible from your planet and they can serve as a landmark. Another thing you can do that I just realized, scan from space and get a landmark on your planet, then go down to the surface far from that landmark and, boom, a makeshift north pole. Going to have to try and remember that one.

I'm up to a 44 slot ship, shuffled through 6 crashed ships so far and left 3 non-upgrades alone.

Yep, that's exactly how I've been doing it with my number system above. We'll see how it works out.

I WISH I had 44 slots, the Millenium Pigeon only has 21 and I'm maxed at all times. I'm desperately mining for a new ship, I need one of the 5 million unit spacecrafts.

I do have this planet with gold 'mountains' along the shores, Millenium Pigeon parked on top for scale.

You are making me want to start over due to the naming thing on my first planet, lol. But maybe I will just chalk it up as a 'screw it', and start on the second of the 3 planets in my Star System.

Love the Stargate references. Watch all 10 seasons of SG1 and 5 of Atlantis every year. Up to Season 9/Atlantis 2 for this year, lol. (Have yet to watch the short lived Stargate Universe, but may to see O'Neill cameo.)
