No Man's Sky
IGN's review in progress says if they had to score it now it would be a 6. Since when do they pull the if I had to score it now card out of their ***?
Gamespots review seemed very unbiased and seemed like the reviewer had an open mind. The guy doing the IGN review in progress thing has been negative since his first paragraph. After reading it I'm surprised he even gave it a 6.
I get the game isn't for everyone but I would have liked to see IGN have someone review it who at least had more of an open mind. Seems like the guy wasn't gonna like it from the start.
I don't really care what the guy thinks to be honest. I just feel like he was overly negative and seemed to have some sort of bias from the way his pieces read.
To me, this is one of my favorite games I've ever played. I'd still give it an 8 though. I guess this is just truly a love it or hate it game.

Re: No Man's Sky
Really Razor? You're going to complain about this? I know you're a big fan of Street Fighter 5 because I read your posts here. Capcom was heavily criticized for its lack of content and characters, as well as its technical issues such as servers and bugs during launch. I mean Yoshinori Ono issued an apology because of all its launch problems. What's funny is I consider those over the top fighting games repetitious. LOL.... Anyways, I digress.
I'm still in my rust bucket. Just got done playing. What's amazing is hours go by and you don't even realize how much time went by. Oh, stay away from the planet Suoyabrs Drai. What a POS planet that was. I left so fast, I didn't even bother to rename it.

Soon as you exit your ship, you're swarmed by beetles.
So you know how i criticized Capcom and you also know I've almost dropped the game twice (i didn't even renewed my ps plus subscription since SFV was the only game i played online, and since they released the last update, i just unlocked Juri's trials and abandoned the game). I really have a problem with Capcom, especially because they weren't really honest when it comes to dlc stuff.PSN ID/Street Fighter V Fighter ID: razorkaosComment

Re: No Man's Sky
I've had plenty of animals attack me, but they were all simple attacks and not much of a threat (realistically I guess, I am in a shielded enviro suit armed with a gun). The sentinels are the real threat, I've yet to see the tier 5 sentinel, but the tier 4 are something.
Following the Atlas path, really enjoying the story more than anything else, up to probably 300 words by now with a pretty good handle on the Gek and Vy'keen stories, just cracking into the Korvax.

Re: No Man's Sky
Can the people who don't like the game please just go away. Tired of reading your complaints about what the game isn't.
You told us. Thanks. Now bye."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: No Man's Sky
Same here. I am on the Atlas path and got to my first....Atlas Temple/Station/Structure. It's been a cool ride thus far. Still no Atlas Pass though. I want to know how I obtain one. So many unexplored rooms on the outposts/stations on planets.
But 300 worlds already? Holy **** man.....do you sleep or eat?
Nah he doesn't sleep or eat he's part of the Gek race now man.

So this Atlas path people speak of. Is that just the gold path laid out on the Star map? What about this Nana and Polo(sp?) I saw mentioned once in the game. Is that some kind of other path to take?
I feel like I jumped ahead of the game a little. I was really lost without direction. Finally, luckily, found my way back to my home planet and there were some places that the game revealed to me on the other side of the planet. One being a manufacturing facility which gave me a blueprint for something I had just been buying before to complete warp cores. I guess I did leave some things behind and maybe I'm on the path now.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: No Man's Sky
Only things I seen were vague remarks on how Journey is or LOST with Jack's Dad or the like, where you may randomly see someone out of the corner of your eye type event. So it would be very rare, but you can't 'force the system' so to speak.
I have been following this game for 3 years, and never once expected or assume 'coop play', regardless of that one old interview quote. They have been adamant ever since it was not that type of game.
I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt at the moment, and either the system was not in place in time, or bugged the hell out because were can barely stay connected enough as it is. But I also do not believe they designed it where you can coordinate it, more so a system of checks to randomly have it happen.
Hopefully he clears this up by Monday or in future interviews that will be happening, that way it can be put to rest.
On a side note, I do not even think there is a player model in the game yet. You have no shadow, you can't see your feet, and the FOV is set in such a way where you do not see your hand, and sometimes the multitool on reloads show no hand on the grip. So the player models might not be in yet, or they wanted to rework them. The PC gamers will have to let us know with digging into the game.

If I had to rate this post right now, I would rate it a 9.3.
SpoilerHint: They started it with Battleborn, just before Uncharted 4 (ironically, hmm), then hung out an 8.8 (in progress number), lol (people went nuts, shocker), for it... before finally settling on a 9 like I knew they would. A new method for them clicks.

Re: No Man's Sky
So I got it last night about 35 minutes after my post?
I told the wife I'd play for an hour, and then I'd be done until she went to bed...well turns out it's exactly the game I have always wanted, and that she has as well (she's not a gamer at all). We ended up spending seven hours on the dang thing, I played about five of it, and man this game is actually a thing of beauty. The graphics aren't the best, but they are very fun. The aspect of just being able to adventure wherever you please is the reason why I like this so much...and space...I'm a space nerd if a nerd at all.
I started on a planet at 21 C and near to none of the other two, spacing the names (radiation/toxic?). So pretty perfect. I'm not leaving until I have looked over every little thing because that's just what I do.
Wife has to work all day, and I don't...so I know exactly how I'm wasting my day!
Edit: just booting it up and seeing the colour is crazy. I definitely think that is a very welcomed visual in this game.Last edited by Bard; 08-14-2016, 10:54 AM.Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Re: No Man's Sky
I still have not left my starting planet, lol. Got 30 slots in my suit, 18 slot rifle like multitool with awesome purple blaster shots shots that ricochet off objects, etc.. Mainly because I have one more animal to find, but can't find it anywhere. Got one type in the sky, and all the others on the ground. No water on the planet... I truly think it does not exist. Sad, because I wanted to 100% it.
Beautiful cave systems though...
I was hoping to start on a 'Mars Like/Look' environment with a little more alien to it, after watching The Martian 2 days in a row before the game came out, and I got lucky, and did, lol.

Re: No Man's Sky
So yeah, nearly died using a monolith because a sentinel attacked me after I made the selection and I was just kinda locked into the result of my interaction while he plinked away. I only lived because my ship was nearby (SERPENTINE!) and the melee-jetpack boosted movement. My shield failed just as I got control of my character again - but made it and now have a 15-slot multi-tool, lol. That and the journey accomplishments (really, a popup would have been fine outside of significant milestones) are my biggest issues with this game.Last edited by mestevo; 08-14-2016, 12:06 PM.Comment
