I wish they'd be clear about the game instead of making it seem like its some big secret in regards to what you're supposed to do.

"oh you start on a planet, get a ship, you upgrade it, you travel to another planet, and you continue to play to play the game"

Like what kind of cokamaymee description is that?

I love the concept but man come on are yall paranoid or something?

I'd like more info on what gameplay is actually like...I enjoy the videos, but don't really get a feel for how the game will actually play (shooting guns, etc)...if that's not awesome then all the generated stuff in the world won't make you want to come back.

I think that stuff's still being worked on, so hopefully they deliver

Who are you fighting people or aliens?

What are you doing flying to planets?

Why should I just leave one planet to go to anther one besides an upgrade?

Is there anything to do in space besides go to other planets and shoot at spaceships?

Can i see my character and ship in 3rd person or am I constantly just looking out of a tunnel vision window like every other FPS game?

Can I customize my character or anything else from the beginning

I mean honestly, those are bottom floor basic... I could think of a ton more but I have no clue why the guy is acting scared to tell people what the game is about when he presented it at E3. Its weird.

Yeah, I think that's what one of the guys at IGN was getting at in one of the E3 videos I saw. He basically said "right now I'm not sure there's much of a 'game' there yet," more or less saying right now it's a cool tech demo of a really fun engine but as far as building a purpose or objective I think that's what still is uncertain.

I'd play the game just for the exploration element but I know there needs to be more there for the game to succeed and appeal to a lot of people

To me it reminds me of Minecraft in Space. Which makes me want to pre-order.

I can understand if theyre barely at the programmed stage but the concept, idea in general and narrative can't be a mystery to everybody including the devs right?

Doesn't have to explain everything, but he didn't explain anything at all. Nobody knows what the heck the game is at all.

                        No Man's Sky

Haven't read every link but my question after reading everyone's posts is are you as a player basically screwed if you don't get this day 1? If I were to get it 6 months after it came out, would it be pointless for me as an explorer because everything will have been discovered by then? I don't understand how that works. Anymore, if I'm buying games, it's not the year-to-year EA Sports versions. They are ones that can last a while and be picked up again at a later date where, sans multi-player, you can have a similar experience as someone did on day 1 of its release. I'm worried this won't be that way.

By the way, from the sounds of it, as much as I loved the Mass Effect series, this game sounds like exactly what I wished for from ME1 based on the impression I got prior to its release. I've always wanted a space exploration game like they are describing. Star Control 3 provided some of that excitement minus landing on planets and ultimately, and unknowingly, having a timed game.

                          Re: No Man's Sky

Funny, that you mentioned it but I was just looking at a video from Gamespot and a report from by Danny O'Dwyer. If Hello Games can do this right, this game will be amazing.

Freedom in video games is a dance between designer and player. We know where the limits are, we can see the invisible walls. But what if those walls didn't exist? What if the designer didn't communicate to the player how to play the game via missions and quests? What if we had true freedom, to go where we wanted, to teach ourselves about the limits of the game, to fail?

Hello Games are clearly interested in keeping much of what their game is under wraps, but today we unveil some fundamental aspects of No Man's Sky and give insight into how the game can, and hopefully will, grow over time.

If you get the chance to review these 2 videos, you owe yourself to get a better understanding of what this game will offer. In this 2nd piece they talk of the math calculations they use to create the sheer expanse of the universe which will set this game apart from others. Their commitment of adding to this universe could be astounding. Get the Hype train moving.

                          <iframe src="http://www.gamespot.com/videos/embed/6420123/" width="640" height="400" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

As gamers we understand the limits of game worlds. We know that those mountains are impassable, that your character can't swim or that your PC couldn't possibly render a city any larger. It doesn't bother us as long as the confines of that world keep us entertained. But, at a certain point the mini map is full, the game feels completed, and you turn off your console.

But what if that world could never be fully explored?

I'm so confused with Hello Game and No Man Sky. At first it sounds like you could see other players then it just a single player experience. The only online experience you have is finding a planet for other to find.

Now I watch a video where the Lead guy is saying you have to work together with other people to reach your goal in the game. Is it a online game where you could play with other people or offline with some online features.

I'm still gonna get the game ad play it but I'm confused. The main goal seem like you have to go to the center of the Galaxy. He states it over and over in the videos I see.

Here is the video I saw.

The way I see it, you do things like trade with others to upgrade your stuff. Otherwise, this is really a one-man journey, for the most part. You're doing your thing, but you're a part of the entire universe.

The best analogy the designer said was putting one million people in the US, and playing the odds of running into another person still being pretty bleak. I mean it's obviously what, 350x less often than you would see now in real life, but you know what I mean.
