Re: No Man's Sky
Interesting wording
One part mentions finding the "center of the galaxy" another part mentions multiple "solar systems."
Is "galaxy" basically just the word their using in place "universe?"
Is there such thing as a galaxy with multiple solar systems?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: No Man's Sky
Yeah, galaxy is their universe, every star seems to be a solar system (have they said otherwise?), etc.
Don't think there are multiple galaxies, the entire universe looks like a massive nebula in every map we've been shown, with the 'center' being a vague bright spot in the distance.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Yeah I feel dumb. I think I was mixing up stars with galaxies when guy was exploring in the old video I saw.
So yeah I really don't kno anything about how this game works for sure.Last edited by The JareBear; 04-22-2016, 01:57 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

And if you want your mind blown, scientists think there are over 40 BILLION Earth like planets in our galaxy alone. And there are over 200 billion galaxies in the universe. That we know of.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
I don't know maybe I am just wanting something different from some of you guys.
I am not looking for more realism here. I want just a "simple" exploration/adventure game. By simple I mean story and plot wise. I really would like a game that is just fun and exciting, maybe even boring sometimes with cool things to discover. There are plenty of games out there that are super realistic and super deep. I would like a game where my course of action does not need to lead to the saving of the Universe or the redemption of the human race. I am not looking for a GTA in space or the next Mass Effect. I have Mass Effect for that.
I want to hop in my ship fly around, explore, collect, construct, modify and fly around some more. Maybe get into a scrape of two but I don't need some grand conflict. Sure a planet that is 700 Celsius should be a ball of flame, I guess, but I also don't care. I upgrade my suit and I can walk on the planet? Great, I'm good with that. I just want a game that is fun to play and I can just make out if it what I want it to be.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Edit: If things are as big as they say and running into other human players is so rare, I want to not just feel bored once in a while (obviously not a LOT!) but feel the loneliness of being a solo explorer in space.Last edited by woodjer; 04-22-2016, 12:02 PM.PSN: JWGoNDComment

Crazy how there's this much info/buzz going on and it's not out until June....sometimes its good, sometimes it's bad (can be better to just let people wait until it comes out without burning out due to hype)Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Realism eh?
Not sure if some of this is considered spoiler stuff so I'll just spoiler it anyways. Hope I did it right in tapatalk.
SpoilerSo you only want travel within Earth's orbit and non manned satellites/probes to other planets? When so many guys want this "realism" I'm not quite sure what you mean exactly.
This game looks like it can be incredibly fun or the opposite and get boring fast. I know they said there's only like a 10% chance (?) of finding life. Yet in all the videos I've seen so far the life on various planets all appear the same. I know it can generate or whatever keeping everything endlessly different but if everything always appears alike but with just different colors that'll get repetitive.
Also in the videos the aliens I saw seem to just stand there in the building and have a multi choice menu of statements to choose from when interacting with them. This is an indie game I believe? It def seems to lack polish. I haven't been following this game from the get go like some of you who maybe I'm just ignorant on all of it. I do hope this game pans out. Some of you seem so excited about what appears to me as a potential bum game, we'll see. I'm assuming everything looks the way it does because it's so massive and all the procedural generation stuff? Not feeling it too much right now but I hope that changes for me, I want to really like this game.Comment

No Man's Sky
What is this guy talking about in the first paragraph of that spoiler?
That doesn't make any sense. It is implied that we can travel outside of the earths orbit. Don't see how he sees that as not realistic.
I don't think that's the realism that people have been talking about.
I'm also pretty sure I've seen more to the planets than just different colors of the same animals, or environment.

Re: No Man's Sky
Bullit's post is spot on for how I feel.
Somehow I have been living under a rock and am just now starting to read up on this. But I will definitely be checking it out. I love the idea behind the open world and freedom and to the degree they are shooting for. I can certainly understand some of the doubts and hesitation but if this game even lives up to half of what they are saying it has the potential to be something special.A Rising Storm in the North | Cheese's Eastern Michigan Dynasty (NCAA '12)
