As someone who has never played a Far Cry game before will I be completely lost jumping into 4 or do they fill in the gaps a little bit as you go? I doubt this will be a release day purchase with Unity, Rogue, and Master Chief Collection all this week but once I beat the Assasins Creeds I'm interested in this.

Far Cry 3 was the first one I played in the series. I had no issues with being lost, you should be good to go.

Playing FC3 and trailer for FC4, they are not contentious stories. You should be fine. FC3 was one of my favorite games a few years ago. I just had so much fun playing it, even if the story was iffy at times.

It's just so awesome hunting, or clearing the checkpoints, etc....I've enjoyed the story, but it doesn't have to be amazing given that the open world is so great.

With all the issues people are reporting about Unity its got me worried about this game.

Understandable. However, unlike the AC franchise which is developed by a different studio every year and in some cases, more than one, Far Cry 4 isn't. Ubisoft Montreal is developing the main story and single player campaign as well as the co-op and they're the same studio that developed Far Cry 3. Dan Hay is still the guy in charge and thankfully, he's kept the basics and fundamentals from Far Cry 3 but just added so much more, different location, characters, etc. I also don't think there will be any problems because there's no review embargo and some sites are going to post their reviews as early as this coming Friday.

Far Cry 4 is second on my most wanted list behind Rogue which im currently playing and enjoying very much. Also have Unity and played two memories and can understand why a lot of gamers are pissed off. Sad part is that if Ubisoft was to just eliminate that Companion app, micro-transactions and Initiates, the biggest problem and complaint would be the frame rate which compared to the three things I just mentioned isn't a major problem whatsoever.

Anyway, obviously up to you if you're going to buy Far Cry 4 but im expecting it (or Rogue) to be my game of the year. Never expected that with Unity period.

I think we'll be fine. Definitely feeling glad I picked this to get right now vs. Unity though (I'm sure that's fun, but FC4 looks to be awesome)

I'm going to have to get this for Christmas. Always been a fan of the Far Cry series just never played it though. So it gonna be new to me, but I know it gonna be a fun game.

Yeah...i mean the main concept of the game is the same (Outposts to capture, hunting, etc) but it's a new game, so definitely evolving and making things better.

Honestly, if it's a lot like FC3 I know I'll love it. FC3 was one of my fav. games of last generation. So much to do.

That's exactly my point. I spent so many hours on FC3...loved wasting time hunting down the random animals i needed....

I hope that it's just a more awesome version. I don't need anything revolutionary that could suck.

Sorry if i was vague. Pretty hungover today lol. As for what I meant, i just meant are they adding to FC3 which was awesome or are they going in a new direction? I'm hoping it's just a bigger, smarter, even more open version of FC3.
