Don't Starve
I didn't see a thread, but figured some of us might want to exchange useful bits of knowledge, funny deaths, and other impressions.
Is there a good strategy to take out a beefalo?

Don't kill the Beefalo.
Set up your base camp near them. You'll need all the manure they produce.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Don't Starve
I just got through playing this for the first time and I enjoyed it. I made it seven days and then died from darkness. I would have been fine if those wolves/dogs had not started chasing me. I came upon an area that had a lot of rabbits and berries as well as other resources. They came out of no where which forced me to go down into this sinkhole that I found under a mined rock. Down in the sinkhole it was completely dark and I was without any twigs to create a torch. So I decided to venture back up out of the sinkhole and not only where the wolves/dogs waiting for me but it was completely dark, and I had nothing to make a torch, so I died.
I do like how the game just throws you in and lets you learn as you go. I know in my next play through I will be collecting a ton of twigs.Comment

Re: Don't Starve
Game seems really deep. I keep dying from some new weird thing about 5-7 days in. It's frustrating, but kinda cool. I need to make a fishing pole.. I tend to run out of food options on days 6 & 7..PSN: jaydazzle

Re: Don't Starve
The furthest I got was day 21. At the end I didn't really have any real direction as "surviving just to survive" seemed pointless. Plus, the guy's sanity was slipping as bunnies were turning into charcoal monsters.
I'll spoiler specific tidbits because I know some people like discovering things for themselves in games like this:

Apparently you shave the beefalo. And befriend pigs, but I don't know how to get them to do things for you.
I am currently on day 5ish and already have a couple gardens set up. My "camp" is pretty much in the middle of bees, beefalo, straw fields, and bunnies.
How do you guys go on the offensive? How do you guys secure your camp?

Re: Don't Starve
Only had a chance to play a little over the weekend. Made it to day 5 or 6 from what I remember. What I like most about the game is how it starts you off with no knowledge of what the hell you're supposed to be doing. Game seems simple, yet has a lot of depth.Comment

Re: Don't Starve
This game stresses me out. So much to do, so little time. I get distracted way too easily.
My strategy is to get a garden going early. Eventually I'll get lucky with a dragon fruit (pretty rare). If you capture a bird and feed it vegetables it craps out seeds for that particular veggie. Once I have a bunch of dragon fruits I make the dragon pie in the crock pot. All you need is one dragon fruit and 3 of anything else (I use twigs). Gives tons of health and hunger.
Very addicting.Last edited by The_Wise_One; 01-14-2014, 11:47 PM.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Re: Don't Starve
I need a plan. I can stay up on resources, but my sanity goes quickly - especially if those damn hounds sniff around.
How can you increase sanity?
I know that befriending a pig helps, but is there anything else?

Picking flowers does a little. Careful not to eat monster meat unless it's an emergency. It also depends on the character you play as.SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
