How can you increase sanity?

I was struggling with this and then I noticed that simply picking flowers seems to help. I am at day 8 right now and I am not hallucinating.

I can't find any Beefalo and I don't know how to construct any armor yet. The hounds are going to be coming soon....

I need a plan. I can stay up on resources, but my sanity goes quickly - especially if those damn hounds sniff around.

How can you increase sanity?

I know that befriending a pig helps, but is there anything else?

You can make a necklace out of flowers (14 I think) from the beginning of the game. It's the bottom option on the menu. That helps a lot with sanity.

So after a bunch of 6-7 day failures, I'm on day 18 with few gardens yielding. As I'm slowly farming and figuring out what to do next, there's now a crap-ton of eyeplants right outside my camp.

Do I really have to kill all of them individually or is there a way to mass murder these things? I saved and quit on my way out the door and have not seen these crazy things yet.

Ah, the garland headgear? I didn't know it gave a bonus, but looking back it makes sense.

My longest experience has been 7 days. I can never find the "crap" needed for the farms. My sanity I can maintain because of the flowers, building science machine, new tools, armor, etc but FOOD I can never maintain.

Cooking rabbits does not seem to decrease hunger enough. It takes most of the day light to catch 3 or 5 rabbits and that does not even bring you to being full.

I find cooking berries and carrots give more hunger boost.

So what is the best route to maintain your hunger?

I usually have at least 2 traps laid out for rabbits. I like having a stockpile of carrots/berries for bait and for eating.

I like having a "central" location camp, but I've been toying with the idea of having "rest stops" for journeys further out. The most important resources to have nearby are some type of food source (carrots or berry bushes), rabbits, and beefalo as they provide manure needed for farms. You can also feed pigs and they'll produce manure, but the beefalo **** is free so its a better deal.

My big problem is not having a plan once I get a daily flow going with maintaining hunger and health.

I only got to play for about 30 minutes last night, but I was so lost. All I was doing was collecting everything I could. I tried to attack some rabbits, birds and maybe a butterfly? I crafted a trap, but didn't catch anything. I jumped into a hole at one point, heard weird noises, screen went black and then I was back to the same area. I punched a bee hive and was killed. And when it got dark, something killed me? But it didn't make me start over, it put me into day 2 but my inventory was gone.

LOL. This is almost to the "t" of what I happened to me last night with this game. Excpept, I made a trap and then it disappeared. I actually ran away from the killer bees and lived. I didn't go to day two after the "dark monster" killed me.

You have to bait the traps to catch animals.

There's a bird trap you can craft once you collect spider webs.

How do you craft the drying rack? I'm not sure what type of meat pieces those are you need.

You can also put traps directly on rabbit holes to catch them without using any bait. I prefer that method since if you use bait you're just trading food to get food.
