Re: Assasins Creed Unity
For the second time now playing this game, the guy I suppose to kill for the mission ends up killing himself. This last time the guy walked off the pier and drowned LOL. I said well, I guess can stop sneaking over there and just turn around. But yeah, it is a shame this game is so damn buggy.
Free running in this game is TERRIBLE. You will really see how terrible it is during chase missions and follow missions. Your character keeps hitting invisible barriers when you are running and he will just stop dead in his tracks, having you yell why the hell are you stopping for at the tv.
Add to that the messed up combat mechanics in this game. For some reason, if the enemy is near a wall, you can't hit him. It weird seeing your character constantly miss a guy standing 1 inch away from him, just because the enemy is near a wall. Basically what happens is if an enemy stands next to a wall, part of his body will morph through the wall, so none of your hits registers.
Ubisoft should have just delayed this game a few months to correct all these damn bugs. The bugs and unresponsive controls really is a buzz kill.Comment

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
Just beat the game just in time for Dragon Age tomorrow. Kind of weird that it didn't feel like I was near the end at all. But then again the story line in Unity is TERRIBLE. No substance in it what so ever. Needless to say I was highly disappointed after playing the excellent story line that was in Rogue. I thought it would be a continuation of the Rogue story line, NOPE.
Arno is 100% simp and the whole story line is about his simpiness. This story line is on the level of Revelations type of bad. They pull you out of the past way too much to do BS missions. Because of that, I would have to give Unity a 5 out of 10.
I really don't know what they were thinking and why they even call the game Unity. Because, well I will explain:
SpoilerYou spend the entire damn game trying to win the heart of the girl you grew up with. However she don't feel the same way about you because she is a Templar and she puts her Templar beliefs 1st and foremost. You on the other hand, being 100% simp, mess up all over the place trying to win the heart of her. Because of this, you get kicked out the damn brotherhood of Assassin's because you put your love for her before the beliefs of Assassin's.
All she does is uses you throughout the damn game. And in the end, she gets killed because she was willing to die for her Templar beliefs and went out fighting. The whole story line just grinds my gears. There was no damn Unity anywhere in the game.
The Assassin's Council was lame, I expected them to play a much bigger role in the game. But nope, they just gave you missions. With the word Unity, I expected you would be able to call on your fellow assassins to help you out in missions or something. But nope, you do everything by yourself.
Then I didn't like that you had to BUY skills and some skills didn't unlock to way late in the game. The game over all seemed so unbalanced in favor of the guards and enemy AI. Every guard carries a pistol in this game and they can shoot you while running from long distance with a pistol. It was crazy......
I also felt as though weapons and armor was way over priced.....The mastery skill for weapons to me seemed USELESS. I was doing the same damn animations that I was already doing before I bought the skill. And it sure as hell didn't take any more damage from the enemy prior to me not having the skill.
Rifles are useless. Pistols are useless unless you have the top 1% expensive ones. Every enemy guard seemed to be rated 4 to 5 stars. Just crazy how hard they made 99% of the enemies in this game. It was as though Ubisoft really wanted to discourage fighting or something. Because fights in the game last a long time due to how powerful the guards are, EVERYWHERE. And if you got more then 3 guards attacking you, you might as well just run and hope you don't get shot in the back and killed. 97% of the time, that is what will happen to you.
Free running is terrible. Climbing is too linear at times. Some times you can't climb up something the way you want to, instead you have to go up a certain path, which made no sense what so ever. Smoke bombs aren't as effective as it was in previous AC games. Stun bombs are worthless, they don't last long at all.
The blades you can shoot out, don't even kill people half of the time. I guess they are only effective against people who are 3 stars or lower. But most of the guards in the game are 4 and 5 stars, especially in the second half of the game where every mission is 4 and 5 star difficulty.

You made me skip this one altogether. I enjoyed black flag immensely but this french story with what I'm seeing. Re: Assasins Creed Unity
What I loved about Black Flag and 3 is what they moved away from in Unity from the impressions I'm reading.

My own mind is made up.
I'm a fan of the AC series but it doesn't look intriguing to me to be honest.
I liked ACll and black flag alot...but there is always one or two in the series that gets skipped because of things in just not interested in like a particular story or what appears to be lack of effort.Comment

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
Question about Helix missions, does the icon stay on the map after you beat them or am I just not done? I've run both the ones I've done 3 times each so they say 3/3 Intel or whatever but the icons haven't disappeared, just making sure I'm not doing something wrong.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

It's awesome. Map is gorgeous, yes some FR issues that hopefully are fixed, but the game looks amazing. Story so far I like. Not sure what people hate.
Have you even played it? I'm sorry, but if you're basing your opinion on the story because of what other say you're missing out. Maybe if you do play it you still won't like it, but that's not fair to say about a game you haven't even played.
I've only played about 3-5 hours total, but I really like this game. Reviews are nuts, IMO.Comment

I'm basing my thoughts on an cumulative sort. I've watched walkthroughs. I've seen the bugs the patch notes the story reviews and opinions.
It was a game high on my list but not now like it was. I was going to go pc if you look earlier in the thread til I found out ubisoft screwed that up too.
What I've seen of the story I don't like it very much. Especially coming from black flag this story isn't as good. Anyway like I said I like the AC series so I hope they move to Egypt next year or something but I'll moat likely be playing gta before I think about touching this one.Comment

Oh well, kinda hard to base definitive opinions on things you haven't tried. Yes, reviews, Twitch, etc are all good places to see what a games like before you try it, but I find the negativity surrounding this game off base (except the frame rate issues which definitely need fixed).Comment

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
With all the games coming out this week some are bound to hit the cutting room floor. I'd rather wait until they patch this, cop it at a low-low price, and play games I know I'll enjoy and know that are good, fun overall experiences than to take a chance with this foray.
