Re: Assasins Creed Unity
I've played every single AC there has been released and to date, the story in ACU is nowhere near the best IMO. Have you played all the AC's? I still found Ezio's story to be one of the most enjoyable when you span it over several games. I even enjoyed ACIII a lot which many hated and swear off as an AC game. The negativity in this thread is laughable. I'm average at best skill wise at games and I have had no trouble playing this game; I find it challenging but approachable...in other words, fun.
Typical OS babies, the map is too cluttered. But if there was less to do the game would be branded as "stripped down" and disappointing. The free running mechanics don't read my mind. Its too hard to get to the viewpoints. I guarantee I could find some complaining in the AC 3 or Black Flag threads that viewpoints were too easy to get to.
This community lives to buy games at full retail and then pretend to be massively disappointed by them when the reality is you eagerly await the next installment and put hours and hours into the game you crucify on here. If the game was so bad, there is no way so many people would have progressed so far as to rack up all these complaints.
The game is fun, the story is the best yet in terms of pulling you in and also simply making sense, and the murder mysteries and Paris stories are way more fun than hunting the same lizards and whatnot was in Black Flag. I don't particularly miss the naval stuff this time, as much as I did enjoy it in BF.
The setting with French Revolution and the scale/detail of France is breathtaking. I'm playing this on PC pretty much maxed out and my jaw keeps drawing to the floor from a graphics standpoint.
Going back to the story, not sure where there is this gripping story here.
After Ubisoft decided to end the Ezio story and kill offin ACIII, they lost a lot of focus. The whole Abstergo Entertainment corp and project 17 to me really messed things up for me with the direction they seemed to be heading in.SpoilerDesmond
I agree with you, the combat leaves a lot to be desired at times. I felt the combat in the past was better chained together, here it is a free for all.Haven't read through this thread, but man is this game a turd. They straight up broke the free running that made the game great, now it's clunky and even more erratic than ever before. Typically, problems free running in the original were simply your char trying to run up something when you just wanted to run past, is it not the most simple solution to add a button that simply stops the climbing mechanics and just runs? You see a corner coming, hold x while you run past and he won't stick to the wall like spiderman. Having a descent button is the only thing I feel they got right/improved, but that doesn't help that the rest of the movement is clunky at best.
I hate the combat, previous games the combat wasn't stellar but at least it was enjoyable. This feels slow and clunky.
And the map, icon overload. No idea what I should do, it's all just there, and it's all just too damn much.
Combine that with the fact this is one of the glitchiest games I've ever seen, and I just can't do it. Sending the game back to gamefly, sad to see this series sink so low.
I'm pushing my way through the game. I have played through all of them and want to see this through the end. I am looking forward to Rogue next year on PC since we won't get it on PS4/X1 that we know of and I keep reading how that game is like III & IV combined with a pretty good story that is engaging.Comment

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
I enjoy the story quite a bit (I just started the last sequence). It's not as good as the second game or Black Flag, but I think it's better than Connor, Altair, or Ezio in Revelations (never actually played Brotherhood).
I'm actual not thrilled with the locale for Rogue. It'll be 4th straight out of 8 total to take place in the 18th century, and 3 of those 4 have been North America. Only one game took place in the middle ages. I feel like doing something new would freshen up the series more.
Also, I guess I'm weird in that I always absolutely hated the present stuff. It was just something to get through. The stories of the individual assassins are much more interesting to me.Last edited by DonkeyJote; 12-01-2014, 01:41 AM.Comment

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
Complaints/praises about the story are all subjective. What you like or may not like will obviously be different than what others feel. The only way to know is play it.I gotta agree with you about the last part that where ypu playw alone as a only assasin it kinda was more interesting ! Personally I think the complaints about the story are way over blown and I don't see what's so wrong with it. If you have ever liked AC before you'll like this game.Comment

I felt the new controls were at their worst for sequence 12 I kept not getting into the places I wanted to for cover or I'd jump on top of something on accident and it's very unforgiving of even small mistakes like that.Favorite Teams:

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
Just finished the game last night and...
SpoilerThe ending of this game was disappointing. I know this game and his purpose was revolving around Arno trying to clean his name from the accusation that he killed Elise's father and trying to find the killer, but why didn't he bother caring who killed his Biological father? its like he doesn't care that it happened and why did it happened. Also, i already know who killed his dad (ACR) but the story would've better if he showed some interest (even trying to find a name for the killer)Last edited by Sports fanantic; 12-04-2014, 05:54 PM.San Francisco Giants

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
Enjoying this big time. Skipped the last few AC' but this one for me is the best one yet.
Guess I am in the minority, but really enjoying the story. Movement at times is frustrating but nothing new with AC.

Pretty much my only complaint as well. Glad I'm not the only one. I feel like I was on drugs or something and everyone else was sober while critiquing this game.Comment

Re: Assasins Creed Unity
As usual, Yahtzee fromm Zero Punctuation sums up my final issues with the endgame quite beautifully...
Spoiler"After completing the story campaign, there's a bit of a time lapse, and suddenly Arno is not only an Assassin again but a Master Assassin. I'm not quite seeing how this added up. Fill in the blank: Disgraced Assassin -- embittered drunk -- Templar aide -- ??? -- Master Assassin."
