I just played some of the Army mode !

Great...it's what I wrote above on an earlier post...exactly what I wanted.

You can breech buildings, fight inside, and teamates can go KIA without abandoning the mission. No grenades from what I can figure...and the controls are different...but it's a lot of fun.

What exactly does the Authentic mode change? I've played Army mode before but not authentic.

I'm getting a kick out of it -- just got my copy tonight. It's a nice change of pace and has a very immersive atmosphere. So far I'm finding it quite a challenge.

            Re: FSW Impressions...

Authentic drops the shield icons, the ammo % indicator, "hot spot circles" on the ground, no save points mid chapter, and it seems like there are more of and/or slightly smarter AI (quicker to leave cover when flanked). The missing sit-reps really make it tough in addition to losing the shields because they made locating enemies easier.

Sidenote, seems like you have to beat the game in both difficulty levels before authentic is unlocked as I beat the game in mstr sgt and it wasn't unlocked. So I went ahead with the swedisharmy code it was unlocked.

A word about the linear aspect of this game. I am on the last mission and I'd say about 1-2 hours from being done. I am on Master Seargent. The thing I have seen is, YES they do spawn at the same points. But when replaying a mission, I have had differnt results. COmbat is different every time, and they do MOVE.

I haven't played online but I would think it would be harder since you have to TRUST what the other team is doing to properly cover you etc.

I gamefly'd it, and I'm glad I did. I won't play it more than once through on Master Sergeant.

No doubt the lack of random spawns sucks. But the game is very tough at Master Sergeant and will give me a lot of playing time online and offline. Plus there's the Army level, too.

Will I keep this game after I finish it? Doubtful, due to its linearity. But the combination of complex online and offline play and playing with a buddy while "solving the puzzle" online will give me enough value and playing time for $50.

FSW will get plenty of play from me until at least the next Rainbow Six is out in August or possibly even until Ghost Recon 2 is released in November.

                        Take care,

Excellent point that hasn't been raised. When playing single player, you just assume that the AI of the other squad will cover your [censored] properly and not make risky maneuvers. When a human controls that other fire team while playing online, the dynamic changes considerably.
