I need some advice. My son is begging for this game. Unfortunately we never tried the beta. We did try the betas for Battleborn and Paragon and he played those a little bit, got bored and never went back. I thought these three games were similar so I told him he can't get Overwatch right now since he probably won't care that much. I would prefer to wait for a sale price.

So the question is, what makes Overwatch better than Battleborn and Paragon? If he didn't love those games why would love this one?

Overwatch is not similar to those games at all. They're mobas. This is a class based shooter similar to Team Fortress

When I first heard of Overwatch it was in an article that was titled "Battleborn vs Overwatch vs Paragon," and I too then-after lumped them all together.

I dunno why these three games were at one point linked because as Bauer said they are not remotely similar. I own all three and have invested at least 20+ hours in all three.

Paragon is a standard third person MOBA. It is a slow methodical "chess match." Battleborn is a medium paced hybrid FPS-moba. It has the in game leveling system and map/game mechanics of a standard MOBA with a little bit of Borderlands style (kinda) elements. Overwatch is a fast paced class based team objective (capture the control points, escort the payload, etc) first person shooter. No upgrades/progression other than cosmetic/vanity items. Everytime I'm tasked with comparing it I can only come up with Team Fortress 2. It's bright and colorful, some characters can transform into giant rampaging gorillas, built turrets, set up teleportera, fly and hover while thy launch rockets from afar, turn into a glacier to heal. Each character is unique, each class (offense, defense, tank, support) is vital. Each character has two powers/abilities plus an ultimate ability you build towards during the match.

I can't really compare it to games like CoD and BF4 but it's closer to those games than it is to Paragon IMO, but really the closest comparison I can think of is Team Fortress 2.

It's master crafted to where every hero is unique, balanced, and potentially dominant

This game is incredibly frustrating without at least two teammates in chat to coordinate with.

Swear I just matched up with TeamMLGliquidnoscope while I was on a team of full randos. Completely dominated by them.

This so much. I posted my stats earlier but I have a 2/1-ish Eliminations ratio, but I actually have less final blows ("kills" in every other FPS ever) than deaths. I always do damage to other players in FPS's but have a hard time finishing them off, and it's no different here. But, with the killing blows de-emphasized in this game, I can concentrate on doing damage and helping the team instead of worrying too much about the ratio.

Keeps the game fun.

I think final blows aren't the way to figure K/D in this game, I can so do 550 out of 600 damage to someone but not get the last shot so as I'm concerned if I'm 15 elims and 5 deaths. Elims are my "kills" and I'm pretty happy with my ratios so far

Going to have withdrawals, out for business the whole week. Think I'm going to watch guide videos to fill the need for this game. I've watched a few and I think they're helping to improve my sub-par game.

Started to play with zenyatta and may try to main him. I like his support but also feel like he's somewhat powerful if I get caught up in a fight. The damage orb combined with decent firing speed and a head shot sprinkled seems to work with me as far as play style and lack of skill/aim in combat

I tried to use Zenyatta a little but more tonight. I haven't had what I would consider to be a dominant game with him but this was my best by far. I need or practice more with him, as well as D.Va

Picked this up for PC last night and got in around 6 or 7 matches (made it to level 5). Wow is this game a blast! Anyone on PC, lets team up because we will need a full team on discord to really take advantage of the strategy in this.

Good games last night. Last two nights is the first time I played with a group of people good stuff. I'll get my mic going next time and make sure my wife isn't asleep on the couch beside me. Jare and Candy, who else from OS did we roll with?
