Sounds like a rewards certificate as opposed to an actual $10 coupon. Check your points/rewards on your account to be sure.

It shouldn't. The code was pretty much a gift card. Anytime you use a gift card or reward certificate, the funds are deducted right away, unlike when you use a debit/credit card, where there's an initial authorization charge that drops off and the money isn't really charged until shipping.
