I've seen surveys, in fact I've partaken in one, that recently hinted MS and/or Sony may be interested in allowing you to resell your digital games but so far no real word on anything like that.

Yeah, exactly...I get some of the outrage, but really we're always on anyways. I dunno...I'll let it go, but losing the ability to trade in digital games sucks...I'd get everything digital if I could trade them in for something halfway decent, maybe not as much as physical, but something.

Yeah I buy 95% of my games digital. I just make sure that its a game I plan to play for a long time. I don't worry too much about resell value as games resell drops so fast anyways I'm not going to lose sleep I can't trade it in for $4 at Gamestop.

However, it would be nice if I could "gift" a game to a friend. My nephew for example doesn't have many games and he used to get my physical games that I no longer played, now he gets practically nothing.

Make it so I can transfer my title over to him.

And doing so also would allow you to resell games, it'd just have to be done outside of the system (ie you paypal me $10 and I'll then send you over this digital game).

Okay. Gotcha but two problems. If you were to trade in digital purchases on Xbox One/PS4, they would 1) be most likely credit for their respective services just like Best Buy, GameStop, etc. do so you can put that right back into their business and 2) how much do you really think they would give you back? To me, it has to be at least half of what I paid for at least six months after launch because even now, I can still get decent amounts for some games from Best Buy or GameStop. Offering me say $5 or $10 simply wouldn't cut it.

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread

Outside of PSN/Indies, im 95% physical. The Witcher III ($25) and TLOUR ($8) were the lone exceptions to this. I'm not a collector anymore so unless it's one hell of a game I love and played multiple times like TLOUR for cheap or my best game in two generations in The Witcher III, I go disc every time.

I have RE 7, Hitman, For Honor, Horizon, Nier and Ghost Recon Wildlands all upcoming. No way am I buying any of them digitally especially when a few of them could go either way in regards to me enjoying it enough to play through it.

Main reason for me is money, plain and simple. With all the different ways that publishers try to get you to spend more for less, I do the opposite. I spend less to get more.

I know a lot of people love digital and want gaming to go all digital and it will eventually but like they say, be careful for what you wish for as you just might get it because gamers will be shell shocked when they see every game at $60 and never go on sale.

Think about it - no other way to buy the game. Only digital. So why would any publisher give YOU any type of sale or discount? Answer is they won't. Only reason you see sales and deals now is because physical still exists. I know people will argue that physical is what causes publishers to not give you digital games at cheaper prices but there's a flaw in that argument. The flaw is gamers thinking that the publishers who are money hungry, greedy companies who are publicly traded and are run by their investors and stock holders are going to pass their savings onto YOU. I would love to see that happen but good luck with that. LMAO.

Anyway, thankfully, disc based games still exist and GCU kicks ***.

I actually agree with you as well. Although I want to personally go all digital and want to see some digital sales online I also don't want the industry to go all digital for many of the reasons you cite above.

So keep buying those physical discs fellas!

1.) Yeah, and that's fine, more people trade their games in to Gamestop and Best Buy for store credit than for cash on eBay, so this wouldn't be an issue.

2.) More than you get from a digital game now, which is $0. If you have the option between $0 and $10 and the $10 doesn't cut it for you, then I don't know what to say.
