    Re: Mad Max

I've been all over the internets today and it seems like that scrap should be added to your collection immediately.
But I saw some reddit posts where a few people claiming it never makes it's way into your stockpile.
It'll show "Added 300 scrap", but then it never becomes available.
Sounds like it could be a bug. Boo!

I got this as an early birthday present yesterday, but didn't get to play much (picked my car body). Hopefully I can dive in tonight depending on how loudly Just Cause 3 is calling my name.

          Re: Mad Max

Nearly tossed this game out the window when faced with a racing Story mission.
I am absolutely dreadful at racing games and it's the main reason I never completed GTA 3, 4 or 5.

Luckily, after 4 or 5 tries, I was able to complete it.

I believe I'm only 2 missions from completing the game.

Mad Max has provided a wealth of entertainment and it's certainly been worth every penny.
I bought this game and Sleeping Dogs on a whim based on the comments I read here at OS.
Both were great games with SD's being one of my all-time favourites.

            Re: Mad Max

I spent 4 hours last night getting out of Chumbucket's territory into the Wasteland and I am loving it so far. In a lot of ways this reminds me of Shadow of Mordor between the alternate/fantasy world, gangs scattered throughout each region with roaming war boys, the Batman influenced combat, and the overall unassuming nature of the game as whole. I think Mad Max has a more realized world, however.

The balance between car combat and on-foot gameplay is great and gives the game a very different feel right off the bat from other open-world games. Typically the car is merely a means of transportation and you have plenty of options to chose from. Here its more than just a means to cross the map (because who wants to hobble across the Wasteland), but it provides safety as well as an armored attack. I've plowed through a good chunk of the story missions in an effort to upgrade my Magnum Opus because it is such a focus in the game.

Leaving the car makes you feel vulnerable. There's some scrap and a chance for fuel (though I've not come close to running around I still scavenge for everything I can find). Hobbling back to the car with a gas can in hand makes me feel like I've got a target on my back and I'm always waiting for a group of war boys to crest the hill and come circling after me like vultures. Still, bring them on. Taunting an oncoming car like a bull only to dodge out of the way, quickly turn, and shoot their exposed gas tank with your one precious shotgun shell is awesome. Or, if they to decide to abandon the safety of their metal cans, they may think it wiser to a round of fists. The game will brutalize them for it. While the combat isn't as polished as other Batman-styled games it is ****ing brutal and bonecrushing. I've already had a handful of moments where I've cringed and oohed at the slow-motion face-planting, weapon impaling, and boot-stomping that Max likes to deliver to his Wasteland brothers.

I'm one minefield from completing one region of Jeet's Territory, but I'm enjoying everything so far.

I tried my first Time Bomb race yesterday. It was a pain in the ***, but I managed to get the trophy and token. The other two types of races are fairly easy, thankfully.

Finished the game this weekend. What a great ride Mad Max was!
Big thumbs-up to the OS community for putting this game on my radar. I knew nothing about it prior to reading these forums.
Best $65 gamble I've ever made.

                  Re: Mad Max

I just beat this as well last night. I put 24 or 25 hours into my playthrough. I did not do all of the Wasteland missions or a good amount of the other objectives. I did at first, then I kind of got caught up in the story and before I knew it the game was over. I still only have around 58% completion I think overall.

I loved this game. As someone who never watched a single Mad Max movie before getting this I didn't know what to expect out of the game, but I am so glad I bought this. It became one of my favorites of all time for many reasons. I thought the story was well done and I agree with Money above on the spoiler. The game is extremely gorgeous all of the time. The lighting is just spectacular. The gameplay is very fun. Combat on foot or in the cars is addicting to me. The missions had enough variety to keep me entertained every time. At the start I was doing a lot of the side objectives like Snipers, Towers, etc. constantly and that felt like a chore a time or two, but overall I loved the game.

I really hope they do a sequel even if it really is its own story and doesn't tie to this game at all. I will definitely be playing this game over again soon and I'll probably go for a 100% run that time and play it out a little differently. I was genuinely sad when I beat the game because I never wanted it to end. It was one of those games. I got so into the story I didn't realize how many missions I kept doing without doing anything on the side and will definitely manage that better my second time around.

If anyone has not picked this up yet, DO IT. This is probably my GOTY for 2015(though I still have a backlog of games to get to). It was such a sleeper hit. I decided to jump on it when I caught it for $20 back in September and finally got around to playing it extensively the last few weeks and I would have gladly played $60 for it after experiencing it. I truly truly hope this isn't just a one time deal and does become a series because this game was flat out great.

Yeah, I was gonna post in this thread, but it wasn't showing up in my search. Anyway, great game and a mod can delete the other thread that I created. Thanks.

Mad Max is 9 dollars at Redbox if you can find a kiosk that sells it. You can look up Redbox inventory online.

Solid game, but the boring environment wore on me after a while. I know it's probably hard to make a desert interesting, but MGSV did that much better. Not a bad pickup for the price, though.

I'll respectfully disagree in regards to the desert being boring and MGSV doing it better. MGSV does it worse and here's why - it's empty, bland and boring. Mad Max is far better for one main reason that seem to go over people that play the game - unlike MGSV, Mad Max is taking place AFTER the world has gone to total and complete crap. It's a pure wasteland and post-apocalyptic and is meant to look the way it looks. What's MGSV's reason and excuse? You know, besides the fact that it shouldn't have been an open world game to begin with.

Another aspect that makes Mad Max better are the storms as they easily blow away MGSV and again, the difference in both "deserts" is the story and context of them. Those who think Mad Max is empty but yet think MGSV isn't simply isn't getting or understanding what Mad Max is and meant to be. In Mad Max, you truly feel like the world is dead and empty. MGSV feels the same way but unlike Mad Max, it isn't meant to.

I understand exactly what Mad Max is supposed to be. While both feature desolate environments, I felt the variation in terrain were a lot more interesting in MGSV. I also liked the bases and the enemy encounters when traveling from place to place in that game a lot more.

Mad Max is a cool game, but it just wore out it's welcome with me quickly. The gameplay wasn't interesting enough to keep me going any more and I felt I saw everything that I needed to see.
