I played the demo and liked it so I bought the game. Probably showing my age but the music is great in this game.

Re: Mafia 3
I am enjoying this a lot, though I'm still in the beginning and probably haven't felt yet the repetitiveness. I wish car damage was better, because they went for realism with cars, but how can it be any realistic if the car damage model is as bad as Midnight Club LA's?
I enjoy even just driving/walking around in the world because it is so beautiful and atmospheric. However, I feel like the open world is more like LA Noire's (just being there, without much interactivity) than it is like WD2 (my new standard for open world games).
And we definitely need some kind of a Photo Mode. I'm taking screenshots as much as I can, but having all the little icons and gauges there all the time just ruins every screenshot. If you work so hard on the world, wouldn't you want people to share beautiful screenshots of it?My Specs:

Re: Mafia 3
Unlike in Mafia 2, the police doesn't care if you break traffic laws. But the game still tells you that, maybe it was supposed to be in the game and the developers got lazy?

I really need to get back to playing this game. Need to finish it.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

One thing doesn't make sense: The game tells you about real historical events in real cities, and about real people. Yet...the main city is called New Bordeaux. Come on man!My Specs:

Re: Mafia 3
I've been scared away from this game due to comments here about AI and other issues ranging from big (repetitive missions) to small (something about rain physics or appearance).
I'm a huge fan of the GTA and RDR series (loved almost all of GTA V, wasn't even phased by the slightly more shallow storyline). I'm also really fascinated with the city of New Orleans. Is it worth a pick-up for $29.99 or am I just going to spend my time picking apart how the game pales in comparison to Rockstar open worlds?
Separately, does the game replicate New Orleans pretty well? Akin to GTA and Los Angeles?Comment

Re: Mafia 3
I got it for $29.99 myself. I like it, though there aren't that many things to do other than kill a bunch of gangsters/mobsters and take control of districts - one by one. I have been enjoying it, and driving is better than other open world games, if you enjoy a more realistic model. Car damage, though, is almost non-existent.
I can spend a lot of time going from a to b and killing anyone and anything. The AI is not great, and it's the same exact behavior wherever you go, be it a simple soldier, or some boss. But if you like gunfights, you'll like it.
The city is great, though there isn't much interactivity with NPCs, not even close to GTA or Watch Dogs. It's more of LA Noire kind of an open world, in my opinion, meaning that not much interactions with the world around you. I think Mafia 2 did it better, though it wasn't as open-world as this one is supposed to be.
If you don't expect the mission/activity/interaction variety of GTA/WD, you'll be fine.
Can't comment about how it is in comparison to the real New Orleans, but the city itself is varied and big enough for me.My Specs:

Re: Mafia 3
As long as you know going into it knowing the missions are going to be repetitive then your be fine. I knew that and still had a blast playing it, but I also don't play a lot of shooters. I still died plenty on normal despite the bad AI that could just be my bad skill levelRetro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: Mafia 3
The story is top notch I liked it better then mafia 2 has it was more simple and less confusing and its laid out in a different way then any game I remember seeing. While it is repetitive the boss fights are fun and different especially the one where buddy garrity (fnl) is doing the voice acting.Last edited by georgiafan; 04-21-2017, 01:07 PM.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: Mafia 3
Story/characters/music soundtrack/voice acting/immersion/atmosphere/locale is what makes this game great. The gameplay isn't bad as I have played worse but it is repetitive (of course, every game is) in a boring way at times. I played over 100 hours and will go back to it once all the DLC gets released. Definitely NOT as bad as critics made it out to be.Comment

Re: Mafia 3
It's like the game was unfinished at release, and got better with patches. But I still think that it's not up to par with Mafia 2. If there is a Mafia 4 game, they really need to make it great. Reading posts at the 2K forums, it looks like a lot of Mafia fans got disappointed and didn't like it.
Mafia 4 will have to be something BIG.My Specs:
