Yes, I play both. Both left me disappointed. I realize that Master of Orion is still not fully released, but I have to say both games are not fun, and a let down to me. I still play Master of Orion 2 to get my space strategy kick.

With that said, Stellaris is by far and wide the best space strategy game I've played since MOO2. I am loving it.

I'm glad I pulled the trigger, this game is sucking me in right now. It has the "One More Turn" effect. Just survey one more system, just colonize that planet, etc. There isn't time to relax, decision, decision, decision, loving it.

Set it to ironman this time to get the achievements. I'm not sure if it was because I'm playing ironman or I just missed it the first play through but you a limited to building things in your own borders which I didn't realize and made a poor decision that slowed me a bit.

You likely didn't notice it, the only thing you can build outside of your borders is called a Frontier Outpost I believe. Whichever building requires influence to build and expands your borders.

                  First Ironman game hit hard.

Was going strong, than got declared war on by a enemy that had several classes of ships, while I never even got a shot at a higher class. Managed to stave off wave after wave of ground assaults, but had to call it when a second group joined in. I had a huge stash of minerals, and was using that to funnel to a de facto ally for their energy, but was starting to run low, ran a suicide attack against their home worlds while they bombarded one of mine, but their 4K stack found my 2K stack and we couldn't get away. We were destroyed, and while I could've tried another war of attrition, I decided against it and just called it a loss.

This game really piles it on sometimes!

Finally colonized my 1st planet. Felt so good. Came across 4 other species and have an embassy with one of them. The other 3 are too primitive. Still don't understand the role of governors or presidents though. One thing I do like about this game is you can rename any and everything.

The tutorial almost kills any chances of getting off to a good start by getting you to build a colony ship so late. Just going to tinker around on this first run and then go for it next round.

Realizing that I can build mining/etc stations in systems in my influence that don't have planets/frontier stations in them sure did make the game a lot easier for me, lol.

Unfortunately I didn't notice the 5 planet limit until I built my 6th.

I've poorly considered my frontier post so far this game. I'll need to manage that better next round.
