    Far Cry Primal (Feb. 2016)

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LJ2iH57Fs3M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Ubisoft Montreal’s next Far Cry game is a Stone Age-era open world game called Far Cry Primal, and it launches for PS4 and Xbox One on February 23, 2016. A PC release will follow in March, 2016.

Set in 10,000 BC, Far Cry Primal follows Takkar, "a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group." As players survive in the land of Oros, "they will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off against other tribes to conquer Oros."

Nice. Can't wait as the Far Cry franchise is the only FPS games that I play guaranteed. All that's needed next is a Far Cry game with Dinosaurs (ala Jurassic: The Hunted) and I'll be an even happier camper.

It's about time a game like this comes out. Definitely a day one for me.

Great idea. I can't remember a game using this time period before.

I guess Turok would be the closest thing to it.

Will this be considered Far Cry 5 or is it something like Blood Dragon and Far Cry 5 will come in 2017???

I just get the feeling this is going to end up like Assassins Creed with Ubisoft doing this annual release.

Valid concern these days, but FC has been amazing thus far, and Primal looks awesome. I like that it's a new direction, as FC3/4 were mostly the same, IMO.

yeah, but although I like the concept, if they leave the formula the same and it feels exactly the same I'll pass.

Think about it, imagine FC 4, now remove buildings, guns, vehicles, explosives and other gadgets like binoculars; now remove other humans with similar items. Now you have wild animals (were kind of a pain actually in fc4) and other tribes with spears.

So if it's more of a 'skin' and not a fresh new game it will fall flat. If they make you climb tee-pee's or flag poles to unlock something I'll not only pass on it, but crop dust the area the game is in inside EB games just to drive home the point.

The melee and bare fist combat system would have to be crazy impressive and intricate

I don't see how they can remove 3/4 of what made FC 3 and 4 great and still be considered a re-skin. Unless they're replacing ATVs with sabre-tooth tigers and having you run medicine herbs to some random guy 30 seconds way.

Ubisoft uses the same rinse and repeat formula for their open world games.

I understand that and AC has remained largely the same from release to release because all the 'fun' stuff is still there.

Take away Far Cry's arsenal of weapons, outposts, races, and other "modern" features and I would imagine there is a game that is to be played very differently than 3 and 4.
