Re: Far Cry Primal (Feb. 2016)

You could make that argument about any game that has ever had a successor to the original game. There will always be similarities between games in any game given franchise...it's not always a bad thing. Yes, AC has become some what stale...even tho I still really like the franchise. FC has been one of my favorite franchises recently. As similar as 3&4 were, I had a blast with each.

I like seeing a new environment with different weapons that we typically we do not see in many games. Nearly everything is centered around guns, nice to see this centered around spears and Neanderthal like weaponry.

I'm guessing this is the case... I honestly can't imagine this is FC5, I'll be super disappointed if it is.

I love the Far Cry series... 3 was so, so, so good.

3 was supreme and I played that to death. FC4 IMO is an awesome game but the story did not ring with me (and it felt almost exactly the same with much better visuals). I am still only 33% complete with FC4 and put it down. I will get back to it one day. It's the type of game you can put away for 6 months then pick it right up.

This looks like a fresh game. I will wait for the discount bin though. I have plenty to keep me busy. But it looks super cool.

Exactly how I felt. 4 was awesome cause they took the great things from 3, but the story was so, so at best IMO. Just hard to top the hatred I had for Vass in 3.

Blood Dragon in every sense of the word looked like a DLC...this so far does not. I don't see the comparison.

Story wise, Far Cry 4 is better than Far Cry 3 but Vaas is better than Pagan Min but sadly, Vaas wasn't the main bad guy. He was the secondary bad guy in the game. Both games were great overall though.

As for Primal, im looking forward to it 100%.

Agreed, if it wasn't this Primal setting I'd have skipped it, but I'm dying for a game in this timeline so I'll give it a go but most likely this is my last Far Cry game.

Personally I found it harder to get into or believe the FC4 story. I really enjoyed playing the game, but the story was stupid to me.

IMO this rando suburban kid wouldn't just come back guns blazing to a country he'd never been to as an adult.

I know the FC3 story was unrealistic, but at least you can imagine if you were in that situation you'd probably learn to kill and get your friends too.

I'm hoping in the future the story is a little more possible or believable.

If that makes sense lol....Unrealistic is ok, but just a bit more like what real people would do in those situations....

Ajay isn't actually random and you need to finish the story missions. I think that there's only 20 if I remember correctly and while the story is just average most of the way through, completing it and seeing the "true/correct" ending makes the story go from average to good in my opinion. I won't say why as it would spoil it but when you get to Min at the end, just remember what he says in the beginning of the game before making your decision.

I've beaten it, and I get what you're saying about the twists and whatnot.

More just that he doesn't know any of this to start, and he just starts killing everyone? In the beginning there's really not much more motivation, not enough to become some homicidal maniac taking over a country.

No way I'm going to return my mother's ashes and end up killing everyone...In FC3 I could understand the motivation to rescue friends at least, no matter how ludicrous the situations are in general.

For me it wasn't the most engaging story...Still really enjoyed the gameplay and all that a ton though....

Re: Far Cry Primal (Feb. 2016)

As for Primal and the Far Cry franchise in general, it's arguably Ubisoft's best franchise because there's rarely if ever any problems, they always look, sound and play great and have a great atmosphere and immersion to it. Far Cry is the only FPS that I will always play 100% because it's not only worth playing but also because I love the open world structure to it.

I know Ubisoft has the same "formula/setup" in their open world games but I prefer it to be this way. Other open world games either hide stuff, make you go online to see what's missing in game or doesn't have anything to do in it. Of course, this could be a topic in itself. LOL.

Back to Far Cry, the only thing it lacks is a top tier lead character (with at least decent to solid supporting characters) an excellent villain at the end and a better story. With that said though, I don't play Far Cry games for the story. I play them because they're extremely fun to play and the gameplay is always excellent.

I agree with you in regards to Ajay just killing people but at the same time, he falls into helping Amina and/or Sabal and it just keeps escalating. Since you beat the game, which ending did you get? When you meet Min at the end, the real/true ending only happens if you sit down with him like you do in the beginning of the game. If you haven't seen this ending, at least watch it on youtube because it paints a clearer picture.

I sat down with him and understand where he was actually bringing the ashes, the secret behind that, and everything....I understand the story, just never got as into it vs. the last one. Had a few misses that they could improve on.

I never felt the story advanced in any organic way. It felt very chaotic how you were bouncing around among all these players and helping them for seemingly no reason or motivation whatsoever other then to advance the story in some way. With FC3 there was more cohesion to the progression of the story and some kind of reason for helping/being helped by the other major characters.

The twist at the end of 4 just feels like an "ah ha" moment that is fairly clear throughout the game.

I think this explains how I feel. With 3, you can almost relate to wanting to save your friends and stuff. In real life I'd probably die in the first hour, but I can imagine stepping up to try and be a man, you know?

4 does bounce around like you mention, just didn't hook me like it could have.

I agree with you guys but still prefer the story in 4 over 3 because when you get to the end, you realize that all along it wasn't Min who's the real bad guy, it's actually Amina and Sabal (regardless of which one you choose) and it's Min who simply wants you to reclaim what is rightfully yours.

That's why I like the story. It's basically a double turn like in wrestling. Good guy (and girl) become bad and the bad guy becomes good. With all of that said, the story is still the last aspect that im playing Far Cry for.
