I caved as well. Early impressions were all really positive and for $39.99, why not?

More power to those of you guys who enjoy this, I just wish this were more like FC3 and 4. Especially 3, I miss the tropics and guns.
This is an easy pass for me but lucky to those of you who enjoy it.

I like it specifically because it DOESN'T have guns. Not every game needs to have guns..

I like the game, but I will say I miss weapon variety. Weapons get stronger, and you end up with weapons that are congruent to what you start with (longbow, double bow, 2h club), but they don't really feel that different. They get stronger, but so do enemies, so the fight doesn't really change because everything scales together. So killing stuff now and in the very beginning feels the same, and that means it's starting to stale.

I was beyond hyped for this game and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This time period is just so fascinating and something that hasn't really been covered in a game like this. Just having a blast roaming around, exploring and hunting with my white wolf following close by.

Starting to make some progress. Last night I did a couple of escort missions (lot of fun) and lit 2 bonfires to claim some camps. I am making my way to the Shaman to get my first beast taming ability!

Night time is sick. I was moving ever so slowly in the brush.....really crazy. Game is #sleeper!!!

The game is great, then when you get the Beastmaster taming animals skill it becomes even better!!!

And I suppose this game isn't everyones cup of tea, if you need guns or whatnot but I don't completely understand that since 99.999% of every game is with guns and this is something different. But to each his or her own.

I just don't get wanting guns in Primal.

                      There were no guns.

This would be like playing Red Dead Redemption and wishing there was an M16 or rocket launcher.

I think this sentiment is being a little misconstrued. It's not that anyone wants guns in THIS game, that wouldn't make sense. What this title is going for the devs appear to have done very well. For me though, the setting is what doesn't interest me and why I'll wait for the next more modern-era far cry. I found 3 and 4s gunplay and combat immensely satisfying and some of the best in the FPS genre.

Again, I wouldn't personally ever suggest that's what this game should be. Primal should be exactly what it is; variety is what makes gaming great. I (and I think others) are simply expressing why this game, despite being a Far Cry, is a pass.

This, I wouldnt expect FC Primal to ever have guns, I just loved 3 and 4 so much that I wish they wouldve just done another modern era game and improved it in other ways instead of putting time into going back into the stone age which personally I find a bore. (not that theres anything wrong with that, I just prefer modern stuff) I confess im a sucker for an island as well, so when its freezing and snowing outside I can escape into a new game of far cry but not this year.

Ahh see for me it's the complete opposite. I love this setting because it's so different than traditional games. Wish I had more time to play sometimes but it's a lot of fun when I do get time.

I played for a little under an hour and really enjoyed the beginning. If that's a good indicator of what is to come, then I will put plenty of hours into this. I love love love the time period. I love primitive weapons and just the overall primitive structure of the world over guns and modern games. That's just me and I am sure I'm probably in a minority in that regard, but this game hits an era that I can't resist whenever a movie or game takes place in it.

So far I am glad I decided to jump on this. I haven't play much, but I do like what I've played a lot so far.
