Just re started with the new Survival mode. It is like a whole new game. Love it even more now.

Put in some time as a break from The Show 16.

Game is so cool. 45% complete now.

I also do this. After a couple of 0-4 games with my RTTS Left fielder, fire up Far Cry Primal and next thing I know it's 1am.

The last patch added a survival mode? I just assumed everyone knew about it.

This adds a stamina meter that decreases with activity, all activity. Walking, hunting, fighting all take away from your stamina. The only way to get it back is to eat and sleep. Also in this mode it takes away the mini map, so exploring takes on a whole new meaning. You cant see enemies and animals, since there is no map to display little red dots. You have to move slowly and listen for the cues that YOU are being hunted. It makes combat a little more realistic as well. Animal companions now have perma death. To re place a trained animal you have to train another one. Legendary animals cannot be replaced period. If they die that are gone for good. You can also set perma death for the player as well. This is set for one of three levels. 1 you die, game over done. 2. You get one second chance. 3. Re spawn but only if you have progressed passed a certain percentage of the game since the last save.

I will tell you, in my opinion, it really is like a whole new game and I am really loving it.

It really does add so much to the game. I was exploring this morning and wasn't paying attention. Got to far away from camp and ran out of stamina. Well in survival mode when you stamina is depleted you can't fast travel, not that I do anyway, but you also can't run. So I had to go into serious stealth mode knowing that if I ran into anything I was dead. I mean dead dead. Re start the game dead. You want to talk about being careful in a game and not taking chances. Play this with perma death on!

That sounds like more of what I was hoping for in the game. I looked for forever when I first got the game for a waybtinturnbthe map and blips off. All the other additions added in with the mode sound awesome. I'm glad you mentioned it or I may have gone a long time without knowing about it

Sticking with normal and when I finish I can restart a hardcore survival mode play through.

This game is a huge sleeper hit. I think it has gone under the radar.

Don't have this game but now am interested because of survival mode. Is that on consoles? or just pc?

Edit: nevermind, just went to their website and looks like it's for all of the above. Game is definitely on my radar now.

Late to the party with this one but having a great time so far.

Now I did not start with survival mode but did turn off the "sense" after the tutorial stuff was done.
Was really enjoying myself and being careful etc... and was pretty nervous.
Then night hit and after a couple minutes I was looking for a hole to crawl in.

Looking forward to more tomorrow.

I started a survival mode playthrough the other day a night or two after reading about it here and like an idiot I ran through the fire in the opening scene and had my first playthrough last 5:04. I just sat there laughing for a good bit. I started over again and have played it a couple hours now and am really liking it. It is more of what I was hoping the game would be like from the very beginning.

Wait until you are playing at night, in survival mode, with perma death on. I am going to need therapy after this game!

I probably look like an idiot constantly turning around when it is night time. I try to stay near cliffs and have my back against the rock to make sure nothing can come from behind. A lot of the places I need to go don't always have geography like that so I sit there walking really slow and constantly twitch-turning every 3 seconds haha.
