    Re: Detroit [PS4]

Finally played the demo and really liked it. I’ve never been into games like this but I am picking this up on sale. I hope that’s sooner than later. Even used copies are hard to find right now.

      Re: Detroit [PS4]

I was able to somehow play this slow and make it last for a week instead of binge playing it over 2 days. I give this a perfect score of 10 out of 10 and its my favorite game on ps4 and prob in top 5 games of all time. If you are someone that's on the fence about buying it you need to as its a must play though just be aware that's its not a typical game. I would also not do a ton of research on it to avoid spoiling some story lines. The fact that the length is only about 10 hours is nice as its more quality over quantity. They are no dull parts during the 10 hours and just like a good TV series I wanted to play just a little more to see what happens next. I will definitely be playing through a 2nd time before 2k19 comes out and a 3rd down the line so I'll get 20 hours out of this right away and eventually 30. I knew right off the bat I wanted to go back and make some different choices. I also like that the choices a lot of times are subtle and not just press x or o to make your choice. If anyone is new be sure to download heavy rain as its free for ps+ this month. A bad thing is I don't think I will enjoy telltale games as much after playing this. If you have a wife/gf that's not into video games then this would be a good game to get her to play with how the gameplay is.

Just picked it up. Looking forward to getting in to this, especially with vacations next week.

Any recommendations on difficulty? I’ve never played heavy Rain or any other story based game.

I forget the wording but they are two sorta of difficulties I picked the easier of the two. I’m not exactly sure what the easier does it’s something with the button control maybe timing and prompts are something along those lines

With this game you don’t have to worry about difficulties as much like other shooter type games. In those games if the person your controlling dies you just restart and pretend like you didn’t die. With this game the story just adapts to events.

If your reaction time is good, play on the harder difficulty. The easier one is more to just pay attention to the story with longer windows for button presses and such.

I think you'll really enjoy the game, Rudy. You'll be fine on the harder difficulty.

                  Re: Detroit [PS4]

Well I finished the game and it was a great game. I thought the game was supposed to be around 10 hours but I probably spent at least 15. I am happy with how Markus and Kara turned out for me. I am bitter about Connor. I messed up a scene and was one of 2% of the population to blow it. I won’t say anything else other than I feel like an idiot and I want to replay the game just to make some different choices. I really liked seeing the world stats and it was really interesting to see how others reacted, especially if you took a low percentage option.

My wife got interested in me talking about the game and she is now playing it too. I’m sad that it is over. Still bitter about Connor. I need to see a different ending. How do the chapters work? Can I replay and continue?

You can either replay the whole game or you can start from a specific chapter and go from there

Just remember that some chapters do involve multiple characters, so you'll have to replay those as well to completely change the outcome.

Hmm, sounds like you may have had the same fate as my Connor had. Did you -----

You could also watch your wife play and see what her ending will be. My youngest son completed and his story is as if we had two different games. Blown away at what he had to go through.

Yes. Exactly what happened to my Connor. And I am having the same experience with my family. Wife and son both playing it and seeing different things.

This game was just fantastic. I’ve had 3 other family members finish it and also replay some chapters. The variety of endings for each character is crazy. The game sticks with you.

Detroit was my first story based game so I figured I would try Heavy Rain which I had downloaded for free. It’s been such a let down I don’t think I will continue. It is so inferior to Detroit in every way. Graphics are so much better in Detroit. The controls are lousy in HR. The voice acting isn’t nearly as good and the game tries too hard to be suspenseful. The first hour of the game was the most tedious and boring thing I have ever played. I understand introducing characters but this was absurd. I’ve played with 4 different characters now and while some are interesting the game can’t hold a candle to Detroit. Very close to just quitting. If I have to yell Jason one more time I’m finished.

The controls in Heavy Rain were pretty bad, and was glad to see how refined they were in Detroit.

Heavy Rain did improve a lot once you get into the story … I remember feeling the same way as you when I first played it, like I'd made a big mistake even trying the game. That said, not sure I could go back to it after playing Detroit.
