Re: Days Gone
So I am trying to figure out how far into the game I am. I've been playing for a while now, but at a very slow pace. This is one open world game where I really enjoy just living in it. I have been burning out all the nests, taking out all the Marauder camps, searching for NERO stations and going on missions for myself just to loot places and make sure I am fully stocked up on consumables/gear. I'm also doing all the bounties for the camps. So I have already put a ton of time into this game but am not sure how far I am. The last two missions I did (I forgot the order they came in) were:
SpoilerThe ones where Deacon and Iron Mike follow the Horde up to the cave and Deacon presents Iron Mike with the plan to get some TNT to essentially lock the hordes in the caves and then the mission where Iron Mike and Deacon go into town and get the key from the corpse in the Municipal building.
Just trying to get a sense of how long this game is. I'm enjoying it so no rush to finish it. Just not sure where I am in the overall scope.Comment

Re: Days Gone
****! I read online that if you die enough times, the game asks if you want to skip and progress the story.
Really disappointed if you can’t... I want to finish this story.

Re: Days Gone
Thanks for the replies. I've ran into a couple hordes but not been able to take them on yet. I am waiting until I unlock more weapons and upgrade my bike more to even consider it. They are intimidating, but in a good way.

Re: Days Gone
You can skip them but not in the one mission (what it takes to survive). My son helped me get past it today. You will want to get the Chicago Chopper. The Chicago Chopper is located at Wizard Island in Crater lake and can be unlocked at trust Level 2. You can also get the RPD from there I think as well. You will want to craft Napalm Molotov's and Attractors. Use the Attractors to draw them to it and then us a Napalm Molotov. You will need to do that as least twice. After that you can use the Chicago Chopper to finish off the rest. I was stuck on a long time until I read about the Chicago Chopper.Comment

Re: Days Gone
I have found that the longer I play this game, the more dangerous the environment gets. Early on I didn't run into many hordes, packs of animals, bears, marauders.
Now I feel like every time I take a trip I've got to be prepared to deal with getting attacked by marauders, hit by a pack of runners.....or possibly a bear stumbling onto me.
Am I making this up, or do these things become much more frequent the longer the game progresses?

Re: Days Gone
The horde challenges are insanely hard. Guess I need to get some of those perks but haven't earned any yet.

Re: Days Gone
Finished this up today and I don't really have anything bad to say about the game. I loved it, but I can also understanding review scores around 7-8.
I understand why people say the game is slow, because those first few camps are slow, but I really enjoyed the early parts of the game. Surviving, going on supply runs for myself to ensure I had enough materials to craft items and get by. I was really immersed in the world. The story did pick up and had some really good high points, but it was still uneven overall. That's more a nitpick because it somehow all fit, but I guess what I am saying is that a little bit better and more consistent pacing with the main story would help. I loved how side missions were handled in this game. They were integrated so well into the main narrative.
I also thought the open world was well realized Days Gone feels dangerous. I had so many play sessions where I sat down and only had 30 or 40 minutes to play so planned on doing a side mission or two, but never was able to actually get one done because while riding my bike from point A to point B I would get ambushed, ambushed again. And when I took care of the people who ambushed me I'd see either a horde or some wild animals coming after me and the best way to handle it was to take them down. This isn't a complaint either. It was one of the most enjoyable parts of the game to me. I loved the fact that the game world was so alive that I could have an entire play session come alive like that.
I liked the characters, although I'd like to see the sequel do more to make me care more about them. I liked Iron Mike and Rikki, but I never felt connected to anyone. I also wouldn't mind learning more about Deacon and Boozer back when they were bikers. The game did a good job portraying their bond and friendship, but I think learning more about how they became so close would help.
Gameplay wise I have no complaints. I thought the gameplay was well refined, gave you a ton of options to tackle missions (especially side missions). And Hordes are a ton of fun. Still have a lot more of those to do, but looking forward to diving into that more. Overall great game.Comment

Re: Days Gone
Overall I agree. I don't generally buy games Day 1, but I will be there Day 1 for a Days Gone sequel.
