I understand why people say the game is slow, because those first few camps are slow, but I really enjoyed the early parts of the game. Surviving, going on supply runs for myself to ensure I had enough materials to craft items and get by. I was really immersed in the world. The story did pick up and had some really good high points, but it was still uneven overall. That's more a nitpick because it somehow all fit, but I guess what I am saying is that a little bit better and more consistent pacing with the main story would help. I loved how side missions were handled in this game. They were integrated so well into the main narrative.

I also thought the open world was well realized Days Gone feels dangerous. I had so many play sessions where I sat down and only had 30 or 40 minutes to play so planned on doing a side mission or two, but never was able to actually get one done because while riding my bike from point A to point B I would get ambushed, ambushed again. And when I took care of the people who ambushed me I'd see either a horde or some wild animals coming after me and the best way to handle it was to take them down. This isn't a complaint either. It was one of the most enjoyable parts of the game to me. I loved the fact that the game world was so alive that I could have an entire play session come alive like that.

I liked the characters, although I'd like to see the sequel do more to make me care more about them. I liked Iron Mike and Rikki, but I never felt connected to anyone. I also wouldn't mind learning more about Deacon and Boozer back when they were bikers. The game did a good job portraying their bond and friendship, but I think learning more about how they became so close would help.

Gameplay wise I have no complaints. I thought the gameplay was well refined, gave you a ton of options to tackle missions (especially side missions). And Hordes are a ton of fun. Still have a lot more of those to do, but looking forward to diving into that more. Overall great game.
You nailed the overall feeling most have with this game. Bottomline, it was a fun ride, pardon the pun.

Finishing the game was rather anti-climatic; finishing the hordes is the fun part. Not being a A-Class gamer, I bet it took me as long to finish off the hordes than finish the main story, lol. But it was a ton of fun. Can't wait for the sequel.

Glad to see people still playing this game. I was late to the party on this one, so I didn't play through it until long after it was patched up. I absolutely loved this game. It might be the first open-world game that I explored as much as possible, and also my first platinum ever. The story was cool, gameplay to me was fun, and the atmosphere I felt was pulled off well. I just had a bunch of fun even riding my bike, seeing what I might come across. I never fast traveled once. If a sequel does come out, definite day 1 purchase for me.

Next time it’s under $20 I’m going to grab it.

Guarantee this is a game that will cause great stress because you'll be playing it when you know you should be doing other important tasks...like showering, working, etc.

As you go through the game, don't hate on yourself because the hordes are initially overwhelming. Give it time, you'll eventually be able to battle them.

It was a good looking game on PS4 Pro but damn that PS5 screenshot looks sharper. Thanks for sharing.

I sold my pro earlier this year and was mainly PC. Still have to play Ghost, Last Of Us 2, and this.

So would you recommend playing through all of it again just for the upgraded visuals/performance ?

I enjoyed the first time around, but felt like I got everything I need out of it. The story being so long is strike against it on me playing through it again.

Just downloaded this game on my PS5 with PS+

I never played the first game but just re-installed Ghost of Tshushima (which I did beat on PS4) and the performance update is remarkable (frame-rate and 4k resolution)

Looking forward to giving Days Gone a shot with the PS5 performance update.

Just finished the game on PS5! Absolutely loved it.

Very happy this game was included with PS+, or I likely would have missed out on this gem.

                          Can’t wait for the sequel!

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I enjoyed Days Gone more than God of War. The PS5 optimization had to help, based on original reviews.

It's Sony's quality over quantity approach. I get they want games to that are "too big to fail". But, I don't want it to get to the point where it's just a same cycle of games for a generation. I'm all for quality over quality. But, it's ashame that they don't want to invest in other IPs if they aren't certain it is a major success
